IVe find the books of the Ordinary, Sheriff-, and Clerk of the Court neatly kept, and papers well arranged; tho books of the Comity Court welland, apparently, correct ly kept; the Judge of this Court has submitted a report, giving the details of the business of his Court to November. The books of all tho Justices of tho Peace have been ex amined, and appear to he correct. The liooks of the Board of Educa tion arc neatly kept, mid appear to be correct. The Jail lias been ex amined, and the same found in a safe and cleanly condition. The Committee on Kouds and Bridges report same in good order, excepting bridges in Buffalo Swamp. Wo respectfully call the attention of the Tax Receiver to the almost unitorin neglect in the past, in re quiring tax returns to lie made in accordance with law, failing to have tie property so designated that its location may be understood, nlso failing to require owncnf.or agents to give in their property at a .fair valuation. The neglect of these matters in the past has diminished the amount that ought to be real ized from taxes, und imposed a heavy burden upon those making fair and honest returns of taxuble projK-Tty. .•Wo have elected Messrs. J. M. Couper, J. 11. Habersham, und M. JJ i J. Colson, Commissioners of Ruuds and Revenues. * Wo liavo elected Mr. James W Muiioc County School Commission' er for 27th District. Tin- Cofhmissioncrs of Roads and Revenues submitted their annual to the Board. Tho attorneys’ fees and costs, to secure these claims, have, for the past two years, ex ceeded the entire amount received as income from all the property of the Board. .For the p;u, ■ two years this fund has been it cause of ex pense instead of a source of income, and your Board can see no practi cal way to avoid it. 4 The entire amount received from city Council of Brunswick for rent al und taxes on Town Commons for years 1877 and 1878 have been 8238 30, about one-fourth of tho av erage of former years.
