Brunswick’s destiny is the problem

it has a grand future none has ever

This plau has been suggested and then

end, viz: somebody’s else money—not

the lark might be a profitable one to
study. In the solutiou of tikis prob

their wheat field about getting their
neighbors and friends to come in and
help cut the wheat. This annoyed a
bevy of little larks whoso mother bad
left them in their nett in the wheat da

night they told their mother about
these conversations, whereupon the
old lady lark told them to be easy, for
no harm would come to them. Final

mother that the farmer aud his son
said that day that there was no use

rise the next morning and cut the
wheat themselves, whereupon Mrs.
Lurk said to the little oues, “now we
must leave." This little fable has a
moral that we must study, if we would

METEORS.
It was our good fortune to wit
ness the meteoric display at 5:30
p. M., Friday the 9th inst. Its track
was an almost northern direction
across the western sky. It was very
bright, apparently two or three feet
in diameter. The heavens were
lighted up and many scintillationa
were thrown off in its course. We
did not hear the explosion spoken
of by our exchanges, but distinctly
saw the smoke for sometime after
its disappearance. But by far the
greatest sensation produced by me
teor or meteors seems to have been
on Friday morning, the lOtb inst.
at about 3:45. Governor Quinn
the colored watchman at St. Simons
Mills, saw it and described it as re
sembling a large ball of pitch on
first he thought that St. Simons
Mills, at a distance of a mile, bad
suddenly caught in a blase of Are,
but the darkness following and the
consequent explosion and contin
ued rumbling noise for over a min
ute, satisfied him that it must have
been a meteor. Captain Hooper,
our efficient Btevedore, also witneee-’
ed the sight, who adds to the above
that he saw the ball of light dis
tinctly. It appeared to he ah]
north, coming toward th» j
a slight angle, some two 1
nmeter. It made a most f
otechnic display, lighting
heavens for at least two _
minutes, throwing off
stream of scintillations 1
beyond description,
lowed by an explosion, jp
whole earth at first, and a ruDib
noise for probably a minute or two
in the far distant east like thunder.
Some of our colored element, who
are always on the lookout (hr signs
and wonders in the heavens, are
much exercised, and tell stonge for-
bodinga.
