In addition to the construction of a line of crib-jetty for the main tenance of a deeper channel, dredg ing opemtions have been carried on with a view of establishing an im proved navigable channel ciglity feet in width and twelve feet in depth at mean low water, and with the aid of the jetty work, this chan* nel will undoubtedly be kept open, and iu> depth will, no doubt, bo in creased gradually by the current, which has been thrown on thisside of the river by the return face of the jetty.
