Our limited space forbids u* giving •• extended notice of the Iron Bring* that is now ent ircly completed across Etowah, oid wc hope our readers will forgive at lor abridging thin subject- no gnatly, lie workmen, with their most excellent overseer, Mr. Boiger, liava had the beat we it her that could have been wished for, not a chop of rain has fell lo hinder theta in i lie lenst with their work. They havt given us a bridge that is simply superb, and well deserves tlie praises of alk Wt nave all the while been speaking of its oeuuty and durability when completed, out It has even surpassed our molt cher- ixlicd and sanguine expectation*. It it % bridge which, in our judgement, wiH more than aland the test that the confraO' tors guarantee it to do. The conunlttet apppoiiited by the Graud Jaiy at the recent session of court to assist Judge Putnam in testing und receiving it are, Allen Keith, John K. Moore,W. A. T«UH ley, John F. Haase, James W. McCollum and Joseph J. Maddox, all of whom ere uicn qualified to say whether or not It will do to rick. Wo haven't a shadow of doubt but that they will receive it with the assured belief- tbet it will more than stand the test of yean thtlis. The cooa* ty should consider herself fortunate it getting such * bridge erected at such a small cost. Mr. Borger the gentlemanly overseer, sayi the company will lose men* oy on this oontruct, and that in every par ticular they are building it as to contract! und in some cases, even better then the specifications were given. Tho bridge is built for oven less money than a wood* on bridge could Imvo been built for. he county should naturally feel happy over their good fortuno, and every efti. /,»•!! shout lend their influence in securing titer bridges to be built by the King Iron Biidgc Company of Cleveland^ Ohio, They aro in every respect resfon- siblc and reliable. Died from tlio effects of Still Beer. We learn from quite reliablo source, that on Monday night ot last week five young men, four of whom were a widow- c 1 ladies sons, Mrs, Boyds, who lives on Capt. Usui’s place, about 14 miles from Canton, and one of Capt. Ham’s sons, went out on a coon hunt. After hunting for some time they concluded to return home. On their way was a still boose, » hicli we belLve to be an illict one, sad some of the boys wanted to stop sod get liquor, but the older of the boy* add Capt. Ham’s sou refused to go so went and waited on the road side a little way off for their companion*. 1 he three younger of the boys went and found the. beer stand and drank from it to satisfy their thirst. On their wuy home the younger of the three, about 13 years old, who went to tile still complained of be* ing sick and finally become so weak the! the others had to carry him; he kept get ting wor>e until just before day he breathed his last. The other two who accompanied him aro reported in a very critical condition and likely to die. This is indeed a sad story all tho way through and should teach our young, ae well us the old, the importanceof “Touch not, taste not. handle not tho unclean thing," “For at last it bitteth like a ser pent ank stingetli like an adder." BALL GROUND AFFAIRS, Property is advancing in value, and changing hunds in this vicinity. We have no good hotel. A good in* vestment would be to build one. People are using a good deal of fertil izers, showing that they arc wide-awake to their best interest. We have no young men who are affiio* ted with the Tsxas fever, they are all working like beavers.
