We learn that on Thursday night last,
some unprincipled scoundrel slippid up
to the stable of Jas. Dodson, E-quire, of
Smith ville, and shot a fine mule in the
head. This is one of the meanest nets
that we have been called upon to chron
icle, and we hope the inhuman wretch
who perpetrated the deed may be caught
and severely punished.—Americas Re

There arc a half dozen colored men in
Meriwether county who owns Inrge plan
tations, well stocked; one livirg mar
the line of Pike, runs eight plows, makes
over one hundred bales of cotton, besides
provisions to support the farm. We
know of some in Coweta in the same
piosperous cond.tion.—Senoia F and II

We have received from Messrs T. A.
Barnes & Co., of Senoia, specimens of the
work of the first Clement attachment put
in operation in Georgia. These speci
mens consist of a lmnk of the yarn, a roll
of the sliver, and the seed that have been
stripped ot tbeir lint. The yam
smootlie and strong, *»nd the cotton teed
are perfectly clean. Nothing is uecessa
ry to the success of the attachment save
judicious management, and we feel cog
fident that, the investment of Messrs
Barnes & Co., at Senoia, will be an ex
