A bridge at the Marietta pacer mills
gave way last week, and precipitnted

bridge, to our certain knowledge, should
have been repared nearly two year* ago.
W. M. Lanier, for many years au em
ployee of the Marietta Journal and a co*
worker with this editor, has accepted a
position with H. H. Dickson, Atlanta.
We wish ‘ Bub” great success, and take
pleasure in recommending him to Mr.
Dixon as a young man every way worthy
of hia confidence and esteem.
Marietta's unmarried ladies between
the ages ot 25 and 45 have held a meet
ing and adopted resolutions whereby the
bachelors of Marietta are to have an
awakening on the subject of matrimony.
The meeting was duly organiz' d under
the head of "The Ladies Leap Year Mat
rimonial Association." Go at your work
bravely young Indies and let success at
tend your efforts, make the bachelors re
form and join the baud of benedicts.
Saye the Augusta News: "Peter Early,
at one tiinc Governor of Georgia, died on
August 15th 1817 and was hurried on
