EMULATION.
[.Nothing acts 3) much as a stimu
lus to accomplish a goooil object as
legitimate emulation. Even to ac
complish u moral end, emulation is
a great mo live power. It is well for
sensible men to disagree, us selfish
motives are always ignored.
Thus when the goal is attained,
the vanquished not only submit,
but unite with the victors, thatgood
may be attained*

DRESS.
To drees lit c, fancy or plain, only
two thing’ Lave to be taken into con
sideration. The first of these is—
Are the clothes paid lor? 11 not t lie
wearsi Inis no right to extravagantly
dress. Tho other consideration is
—The wearer’s taste, and evety one
has the right to exercise his own taste
lL-uce a man’s morality must not be
questioned on account of the dress he
wears, provided it is paid for.
LUXURIES.
There is no evil in enjoying tlie
luxuries of life, to others, provided
they are paid for by one’s ownnioney
But to live thus, at tin expense of
others is dishonest. It a man owes
a just due debt and can’t or won’t
pay it, the money he pays lor a luxu
ry, though in his possession, is hot
his. So such an action is as moral
ly dishonest as if the money had
been picked from the creditor's pock
