BEGGING LETTERS.
A prominent citizen of Atlanta,
is asking the sympathy of the
public press, on account of his
present condition. The publicity
of his father’s vast income, brings
iu hundreds of “begging” letters.
Ho dislikes to leave them unatv
Bwered, hence an expeiso and
great bore. We know hew to
Bympatuize with bins. We hayo a
“fellow feeling.” Since our daily
profits have become generally
known, wo have been bored halt
to death, the samo way.
We have been driven to thvow
the “begging letters” wo got, into
the wast* basket, and not protend
to answer one out of a thousand.
This is the only remedy, young
man. We have tried it and know.

Mr. Jehn J. Coggins, who is now
attending “Moore's Business Col

of the giver.

This makes it a pleasant and
short walk or ride, for the visiters
and citizens, out to the spring.
Mr. Newman of Atlanta lias been
here s ime fifteen days, making Hn
experiment with the medicinal
strength and virtue of the water.
When became here In* wat in very
poor lieulth and hud lost all faith in
the many medicines ho had been
trying so long. His hope of im
provement had almost gone down,
lie now fays lie feels like a new man
lie has tested mast of the celebrated
springs in Tennessee, Virginia and
Georgia, und noue of tnem possess
the virtue of the Canton Alum
Spring.
Those in bad health who have lost
faith in uostiums, would do well to
try this spring. Our mountain cli
mate is delightful, our people sober,
moral and hospitable, board remark
ably low,and fair excellent.
Add to tins'; the romantic moun

breezes from the surrounding hills
and we can’t see how it is possible to
find a spot with more facilities for
bringing health to the nlHictc 1 and
rest to the worn dawn, with so small
a cost as at Cinton Ga.

SINGING.
It is said that the ‘'bird that can
sing and won’c sing should be made
to sing.” But how to make said
bird sing is not stated.
'Ve have the usual nutnberof young
ladies and gentlenem in Canton,
many with excellent voices, still we
ire greatly troubled at our Sunday
schools mid at public worship, in
both churches about singing.
Timidity and want of practice is
the only reason, why our church mu
sic is not equal to that of our neigh
bors. 'Ve appeal to all who can sing,
and there are a goodly number, to
throw eff their timidity, come to the
front and lead in this beautiful and
