Col. Jatpz Galt has just returned
fiom Texas. He was absent some
weeks and had the opportunity yf
seeing much of the country in the
“Lone IStar State.” As a whole, he
was pleased with the country.
Being a huntsman, he made some
experiments on that line, during his
short visit. As an evidence ol his
success, lie exhibits the ears oj a
Tt xus rabbit, each measuring 7 isch
es from tip to tip. M r e think, but
don’t know, that he has the l»ft
hind foot of this huge rabbit in his
hip pocket, for luck.

The dry ground in Cherokee was
blessed last Saturday with a most ex
celfent gentle shower of ram.
Wheat lUid oats in this county are
good, corn and cotton a little behind
in growth. All the crops are clear
of grass and in fine condition.
