COTTON MEED OIL MIL1
While in Marietta last week we were
shown something about n cotton seed oil
mill, by our friend Mr. H. S. Root-
No mill is in operation there, but Mr,
Root ha-1 samples of the seed and the
different forms It assumed in making
the oil. From the explanations of tho
cost, process and outcome of this enter
prise, we weto at once struck with the
idea that it would be a profitable invent*
mont for ones capital 'and at the tamo
time do much in building up the coun
try. At present tliore arc but few mills
in the Slate but ere long we expect every
county to bavo ono or more. Tho ex
penso of running a mill is light. Tho
cotton seed bulls is tho only fuel re
quired nnd tlio oil makes the very best
lubricant. The whole machinery neces
sity ti run one will not cost more than
t-TOOO and can be set up in a small two
story house; iu connection with a cotton
gin it will cost less. One bushel of
seeds will make more than a gallon of
oil which sells for about fifty cents a
gallon and hh we before stated the hulls
is the only fuel needed nnd the wusto
nil will keep (lie machinery bright nnd
in good I'unniug order. Tho capacity
of the mill is ah nit 1200 pound* per day
at 12 hours. Ready sale is found for tho
oil. We did not learn all the point*
n regards to tIlia matter but from what
wo saw aud weie told about it aru con
vinced that if someone In-re would *n-
tere.it themselves in the matter and form
u company it would prove one of tho
most profitable ill vestment* in tho coun
ty—paying not less than from 25 to 50
per cent on tlie sum invested. We have
here nil that is necessary to run it; splon*
did shipping faciitius. Who will take
tin* matter in hand nnd work It up?
It 1* tlie manufacturing establishments
