Fields Chapel .Sunday School
In company with Col. Jabex Galt, our
efficient clerk of the Superior court aud
candidate for re-election, we visited
Fields Chapel last Thursday and very
enjoyed the celebration er picnic of the
Sunday schools of that district, t^uite ta
crowd was pmsont and everything patt
ed over very pluesantly and fa a manner
calculated to do the great Sunday school
causa much good. The speaking singing
ate, was splendid and listened to with
e a rapped attention beneath tha boagba
•f the forests aad th* harbor made espe
cially for tho occasion; tho stand was
appropriately festooned with flower*
and bouquets ; a beautiful banner stood
before the stand garlanded with lovaly
flowers and bearing th* inscription, viz:
"Field* Chapel .Sunday school." “Suffer
Little children to com* unto me." "July
1*44." The singing was perfectly de
lightful and at oure convinced us that
there was many good singers there. .Sev
eral songs where sung in tine style aad
with ranch melody. All speeches, reci
tations, etc, good, tiraely appropriate and
well received. Those speaking were as
as follows viz; ('. M. McClure of Canton;
A. J. Deaton. It. K. Hughes and Col.
Guerin of Fields Chapel .Sunday school;
Kev. J. C’aatrail; Dr W, If. Dean and N. J.
Garrison of Woodstock. Kct-itations as
follows, viz: MiM.Salliii McKinney, Miss
Film Woodti, Mins Dona McKinney, Miss
Hattie Wiley, Master Joshua McKinney,
Miss liia Knox and Miss Mattie Klliott.
All were »pt.-iidid and greatly enjoyed—
many good .Kings were said and many
•ceils for tbi-ugni sown which we trust
may grow up, be watered and nourished
for the good of all there. Tire dinner
was excellent and partaken of in a regu
lar picnic style was enjoyed by all. All-'
together the day wan one of pleasure
and profit and a harvest day for the can
didates.
