SCHEDULE!

CANTO
Under an entirely
s now open for t he lie
Hon. J. <\ ClemenisliHs been nom
inated M his owu successor to the
49th Congress from the 7th District.
The election for Governor, State
house officers and county represen
tative comes off on lledncsday Oc
tober first.
The Legislative race is getting
hotter every day, and tho prospects
are that three clever men will get
beat in October.
Judge Lester is a candidate at
large for Presidential elector on
the Cleveland and Hendrick ticket,
lie will l»e here during court and
will address the citizeus on the po
litical issues of the day on Tuesday,
first week of court, floor him.
From what we learn Cnpt. \V. II.
Parkinson stands u fine showing
of being elected Representative
from this county, lie is a young
uinn of vim, energy, nbilitp and
would make a splendid member.
Next week Cept. \V. II. Per-
kinson and Hon. W. A. Tcaeley
promise to onnoiince their views
on certain questions asked the
candidates lor Hepreeentativo,
Loek for it, then read and reflect.
We euppese Col. Jim, D. Attawnv
will let uebear from him in u short
while. Wait and see.
Tho people of the county are de
sirous of taxing a vote on “Prohibi
tion,” yet we only have one candi
date for Representative who openly
favors having an act passed by the
Legislature to leave it with tho peo
ple to soy whether or not we shall
have Prohibition, Remember this—
only one as far as we can learn in
favor of making a democratic law,
leaving it with the people.
Rill Crowder, a 510 year old nngrn
was arrested at Rig Shanty in Cobb
county, last week for committing
rape on a ten year old negro girl.
It is getting to In; an almost weekly
occurence that some black scoundrel
either commits or attempts this
heinous crime. Ordinarily we do
not favor lynch law but in cases of
this kind, occuring so frequently,
we deem it the lx*st and surest way
to dispatch justice and put a cheek
to it. . ..
Capt. J. R. McKinney while i»
town last Friday called iu to soe us
and requested that we state through
the Advance that he know s nothing
whatever as to how Jno. K. Moore
would vote for Judgeship if elected
Representative of this county ; that
the rumor out that he said Moore
would vote for Sessions and that he
(McKinney) had turned from Per
kinson to Moore for that reason
without foundation ; that he has not
turned from Perkinson to any body
nor from any laxly to Perkinson, but
that he sticks to a righteous opinion
•nee formed.
If we should elect a man for Rej>-
reseutative who would vote against
such a man and Judge as Jas. R.
Ill-own for re-election what would
the people of the state think of
Cherokee? WouUTnt it be a 1 most a
a shatnet There is not a better, fairer
or more impartial Judge in the
State than Jas. R. Ill-own and a large
majority of the people of this coun
ty would lie sadly misrepresented if
our rapresentative should not vote
for him for re-election. To avoid
any probable trouble of this kind
let us know- for a certainty who
will vote for Brown and then let us
vote for that man.
In laat weeks Advance we stated
that tee understood Jno. K. Moore, a
candidate for Representative fruu
tins county, would if elected, oppose
the re-election of Jas. R. I’rown.
Judge of the Rlue Ridge Circuit.
Since then we have been told that
Mich is not true and that if elected,
Jno. K. Moore will vote for Jas. R.
Brown in preference to any other
who may be put forward. f* ucli we
we aay, ia our information and we
irladly haaten to correct any w reng
idea that may have become circu
lated. We state the above not uu-
thoratively but from a reliable
i&M. believe it to be txua.

Editor Advance /tear Sir:
1 see in the editorials ofhe-t weeks

'I here is not a man in 1 herokee

Judge Brown for many years; know
him to lie a gentleman of the first
