DRIVE
In the recent drive the South
em Methodists made to raise
Thirty-five Million dollars the
present prospects are that the
Centenary has been*, over-sub-
scribed by several/ millions.
Canton Methodists raised $8,
233.00 on an accepted quota of
$7,555.00,,or nearly $700.00
over the assessment. ’ This Js
indeed a great forward move
ment and the Methodists, of
this town are to be Congratu
lated in having done MORE
than what was asked of them.
It’s the Canton habit to go over
the top.
Several years ago Mr. and
Mrs. Palmer moved from North
Carolina to Canton and have
lived here for a number of
years, although Mrs. Palmer
was up in ripe old age, her
death was. not expected at this
time and the news of her death
will be greatly regretted by
her many friends in Canton and
throughout the county.
In the death of this good
woman, the church has lost an
ardent member, the neighbor
hood one of its best citizens,
and the children, a Mother,
whose loving and tender care
can never be replaced.
The remains of Mrs. Palmer
were sent to Lexington, N. C.,
Thursday, where interment
took place.
The bereaved children have
the sympathy of the entire city,
in which The Advance joins.
