Darkies Pleasant Surprise.
Rapidly the work has 'begun in
beautifying the grounds for the Club
House that is to tie erected in Canton
as soon as sufficient funds are do
nated. We feel sure that this will
be hatl in ample time, and by this
time next year there will be a rest
ful place of amusement with a bub
bling pool for divers, swimmers and
floaters and if you wish to call it
“a purely water duck,”’ just the
right diversion for mid-summer. To
get next to my story 1 wish to relate
the pleasant surprise of last Satur
day afternoon, when Mrs. A B.
Coggins and Mrs. B. F. Coggins
parked their car with three gallons
of punch and a half bushel basket of
jinger cakes where eighteen colored
boys with twenty mules were grad
ing- and “Faithful Pete Greer”
marched the tired bunch to the car
to find the tempting and luscious
refreshments ample and - freshing
enough to make the hT ing with
songs that were fully ^pperG. ing
to the ears of the hearers.
