Opposition, to High Freight Tariffs Office of the Fashion Line, 1 Augusta, April 15, 1854. \ tllH 17 subscriber would respectfully call the <§ aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to tiie Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and cheap route forthe transportation of their Merchan dise. By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with those of the South Carolina, and Central, and Waynesboro' Railroads, it will show a result in fa vor of this route of from So to 50 percent., gener ally, and in some instances a greater per centage. Bv this route a merchant receives each shipment of liis Goods together; they are not retailed by him as they generally are by Railroads connecting with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached to each package. In addition to the present force of this tine, an other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be added during the coming summer. These boats will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New Fork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three times a week, delivering those Goods at this point in FIVE DAYS. From the present low tariff of this lino a deduc tion of 1246 per cent, will he allowed on all bills from this date. Give the river more business, and u cheaper freight yet awaits you. All goods from the seaboard should be directed to M. A. COHEN, Savannah, and produce from the interior to JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta. To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally, on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Teu nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar kets, this route offers very favorable inducements. To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A. COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard. JNO. A. MOORE. In case of low river, all goods consigned to this line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting Railroads. aprillo SUPERINTENDENT’S OFFICE, Georgia Railroad, ) Augusta, September 10, 1855. f OX and after 20th September, the charges on Grain and Flour, on Georgia and South Caro lina Railroads, will be as follows; Atlanta to Augusta. Reed, of New York, January 9,1855. The nature of this Improvement consists of the increase of power about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder; doubling the size of the port, and balancing the pressure, removing the friction and weight of the slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine, renders it much more durable and easily managed than any other, and when placed upon the boiler with wheels it is portable though effective. This preparation is getting into use all over the country. The numerous letters we receive from our various agents, informing us of cures effected in their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in saying it is one of the best, if not the very best Cough Medicine now before the public. It almost invariably relieves and not unfrequently cures the very worst case. When all other Cough prepara tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, as Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town, what has been his experience of the effect* of this medicine, if he has been selling it for anv length of time, he will toll you it is the nest Medicine ex tant. Below we give a few extracts from letters we have received lately regarding the virtues of this Medicine: Dr. S. S. Oslin, of Knoxville. Ga, says: I have been using your Liverwort and Tar very extensive ly in my practice for three years past, and it Is with pleasure I state my belief in its superiority over all other articles with which 1 am acquainted, for which it is recommended. Messrs. Fitzgerald A Bonners, writing from Waynesville, N. C., say: “The Liverwort and Tar is becoming daily more popular iu this country, and we think justly so. All who have tried it speak in commendable terms of it, and say it is very beneficial in alleviating the complaints for which it is recommended.” Our Agent iu Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. K. Me Fall, assures us “ that he uses it with great bou etit in his own family, and recommends it to his neighbors.” He gives an instance of a Negro wo man, in his vicinity, who had been suffering with disease of the Lungs for years, attended with se vere cough, who was relieved by the Liverwort A Tar. Such are the good reports we hear of this Medi cine from all parts of the South. For a report of the surprising cures it has performed in the West ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in vite the suffering patient to read the pamphlet which accompanies each bottle. To all, we say, have hope, have hope! Try the Medicine! Be warned in season! And neglect not that cough which is daily weakening your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs, and inviting on that dread disease, Consumption, when so soothing ami healing a remedy can be ob tained as I)r.
