REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
raiHis is an improved Steam Engine, for which
H- Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
id' New York, January 9,185-5. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in ou both sides of the cylinder ;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, &c. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Sbventy-fiye of them now in operation, all giving
great satisfaction.

4RNICA LINIMENT, FOR HERNS,
. &c.—A supply of this very desirable article,
i (which should be kept in every family) ready for

! it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having
been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, I
! tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but
1 found, from experience, they were no go. On using
the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded
immediate relief. 1 therefore can speak from ex
perience. This invaluable oleaginous Linanient
acts like magic, in removing the most acute pain,
by Burns, and seldom requires more than two or
three applications to relieve and cure those of a
severe character, either from Burning Fluid, Cam

ROGERS' LIVERWORT AND TAR,
FOIi the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, in
fluenza, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood,
aud all other Lung Complaints tending to Con
sumption.
This preparation is getting into use all over the
country. The numerous letters we receive from
our various agents, informing us of cures effected
in their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in
saying it is one of the host, if not the very best
Cough Medicine now before the public. It almost
invariably relieves and not unfrequently cures the
very worst case. When all other Cough prepara
tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, as
Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians
can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town,
what has been his experience of the effects of this
medicine. If he lias been selling it for anv length
of time, he will tell von it is the best Medicine ex
tant.
Below we give a few exuacts from letter* we
have received lately regarding the virtues of this
Medicine:
Dr. S. S. Oslin, of Knoxville. Da., says: I have
been usiug your Liverwort and Tar vary extensive
ly in my practice for three years past, and it is with
pleasure I state my belief in its superiority over all
other articles with which I am acquainted, for
which it is recommended.
Messrs. Fitzgerald A Benners, writing from
Waynesville, N. C., say: “The liverwort and Tar
is becoming daily more popular iu this country,
aud we think justlv so. All who have tried it
speak in commendable terms of it, aud say it is
verv beneficial in alleviating the complaints tor
which it is recommended."
Our Agent in Pickens District, H». C., Mr. S». K.
McFall, assures us “ that he uses it with great ben
efit in his own family, and recommeuds it to his
neighbors." He givos an instance of a Negro wo
man, in his vicinity, who had been suffering with
disease of the Lungs for years, attended with se
vere cough, who was relieved by the laverwort A
Tar.
Such are the good reports wo bear of this Medi
cine from all parts of the South. For a report of
the surprising cures it lias performed in the West
ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in
vite the suffering patient, to read tlio pamphlet
which accompanies each bottle. To all, we say,
have hope, have hope!
Try the Medicine! Bo warned in season! And
neglect not that cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs,
and inviting on that dread disease. Consumption,
when so soothing and healing a remedy can be ob
tained as Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of liverwort and Tar.
Beware of Counterfeits and base imitations!
The genuine is signed Axdrbw Roobrs on the
engraved wrapper around each bottle.

left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
o my elbow.
Tho misery that I have suffered for the last two
years, I canuot describe to you. I was in such ag

In October last, m v son brought me one ofvuui
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, and found record of some
wonderful cures performed by vour “Extract of
Yellow Dock aud Sarsaparilla;” 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, und commenced taking it. In tvs
weeks, to my great astonishment, mv sores all be
came easy, and I could sleep all night, a thing I had
not done for two years. W hen 1 had taken six hol
lies, my sores Im’l nearly all healed. My sore gut*
wall as if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
