TREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Opposition to High Freight Tariff* !
Office of the Fashion Link, >
VuorsTA, April 15, 185-1. I
r MIIIII subscriber would respectfully call the
" aattentionof the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
the Savannah River, a> a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor'of this route of from 3o to 50 percent., gener
ally, and iu some instances a greater per eentage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of liis Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with 11 list of charges aitached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during tiie coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the Now
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
fines a week, delivering those Goods at this point
i:i FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of l‘2}ij per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
0 cheaper freight yet awaits you.
AH goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interiur to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To fa ilita'e shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors. bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
fB tlf IS is an improved Steam Engine, for which
ra Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9, 1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
; about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected bv
hitting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
< doubling the .size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
! slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rotls, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
I renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
I Seventy-five of them now in operation, nil giving
i great satisfaction.

I A Ate. —A supply of this very desirable article,
i y which should be kept in every family) ready for
i use, may be obtained at the City Drug Store, where
, it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having
i been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, I
j tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but
1 found, from experience, they were no go. On using
j the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded
I immediate relief. 1 therefore can speak from ox

by Burns, and seldom requires more than two or
, three applications to relieve and cure those of a

ROGERS' LIVERWORT AND TAR,
ITHtlt the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, In
fluenza, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood,
and all other Lung Complaints tending to Con
sumption.
This preparation is getting into use ail over the
country. the numerous letters we receive from
our various agents, informing ns of cures effected
in their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in
saying it is one of the best, if not the very best
Cough Medicine now before the public. It almost
invariably relievos and not unfrequentlv cures the
very worst case. When all other Cough prepara
tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, as
Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians
can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town,
what has been his experience of the effects of this
medicine. If he has been selling it for any length
of time, he will toll you it is tho best Medicine ex
tant.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we
have received lately regarding the virtues of this
Medicine:
Dr. S. is Oslin, of Knoxville, Ga„ says: 1 have
been using vour Liverwort and Tar very extensive
ly in my practice for three years past, and it is with
pleasure T state my belief in its superiority over all
other articles with which I urn acquainted, for
which it is recommended.
Messrs. Fitzgerald A Benners, writing from
Wayuesville, N.C., say: “The Liverwort and Tar
is becoming daily more popular in this country,
and we think justly so. All who have tried it
speak in commendable terms of it, and say it is
very beneficial in alleviating tbe complaints for
which it is recommended.”
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. 0., Mr. i. R.
Me Fall, assures us “ that he uses it with great ben
efit in his own family, and recommends it to his
neighbors.” He gives an instance of a Negro wo
man, in his vicinity, who had been suffering with
disease of the Lungs for years, attended with se
vere cough, who was relieved bv the Liverwort A
Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this Medi
cine from all parts of the South. For a report of
the surprising cures it has performed in the West
ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in
vito the suffering patient to read the pamphlet
which accompanies each bottle. To all, we sin,
buvo hope, have hope!
Try the Medicine! Be warned in season! And
ueglect not that cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs,
and inviting on that dread disease, Consumption,
when so soothing and healing a remedy can be ob
tained as Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort and Tar.
Beware of Counterfeits and base imitations!
The genuine is signed Andrew Rogers on the
engraved wrapper around each bottle.

1 have been afflicted for forty year , with erup

leg amputated above the knee. In about nine
months after luv other leg broke out in large rating
and running sores, from my knee to my toot, and
discharged a great deal el offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which discharg
-. d much offensive mattc-r, uml at the same time my
left hand broke out iu large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two
years, f cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
cuv that I never rested day or night.
In October last, my son brough , me one of youi
bottle wrappers; I read it, and found record of some
wonderful cures performed by vour “Extract ot
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla-” 1 sent and got tw..
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores ull be
came easy, and 1 could sleep all night, a thing I had
not done for two rears When I bad taken six bot
ties, mv sores had nearly all healed. Mysore gc
well as if by enchantment. I have now used in all
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla," and I now consider mysel well.
f entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
for 1 believe it will cure anv known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, ant
proclaim its great wortii to suffering mankind, and
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of .South
