Office of the Fashion Line, )
Augvsta, April 15, 1854. f
I|MIE subscriber would respectfully call the
■ aattentionof the Merchants throughout Geor

the Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
; cheap route for the transportation of their Merehan
j dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and

i vor of this route of from 30 to 50 percent., gener
! nilv, and in some instances a greater per tentage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed by
hint as they generally are by Railroads connecting
i with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
j to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, nn
j other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be j
added during the coming summer. These boats j
i will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New j
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three i
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point j
in FIVE DAYS.
From tha present low tariff of this lino a deduc- ;
tionof 12V per cent, will he allowed on all hills

a cheaper freight yet awaits you.

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
fjp SIIS is an improved Steam Engine, for which
-M- Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9, 1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per eeut. and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected bv
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received tho First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Seventy-five of them now in operation, nil giving
great satisfaction.

Arnica liniment, tor burns,
&c. —A supply of this very desirable article,
(which should be Kept in every family) ready for
use, may be obtained at the City Drug Store, where
it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having
been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, 1
tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but
found, from experience, they were no go. On using
the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded
immediate relief. I therefore can speak from ex
perience. This invaluable oleaginous Linament
acts like magic, in removing the most acute pain,
by Burns, and seldom requires more than two or
three applications to relieve and cure those of a
severe character, either from Burning Fluid, Cam
phine, Powder or Fire. This article is prepared
only by myself, aud having tried its efficiency, be
lieve it is the best remedy that, can bo used, when
ever the case requires, For sale by
