REEDS PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
'r HNHJS is an improved Steam Engine, for which
S letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
.«f New York, January 1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 2.i per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is ejected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
ro is, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
l enders it notch more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wlieels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Modal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Seventy-five of them now in operation, nil giving
great satisfaction.

FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Opposition to High Freight Tariff's !
Office of the Fashion Line, I
Augusta, April 15, 1854. v
VSYIII4 subscriber would respectfully call the
u aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
the Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor "of this route of from 3" to 50 percent., gener
ally, and in some instances a greater per centage.
tly this route a merchant receives each shipment
of His Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to eacli package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coining summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods «t this point
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of 12}j' per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yit awaits you.
All goods from "the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, for all goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting
Railroads. aprillo

Arnica liniment, for burns,
. Ac.—A supply of this very desirable article,
(which should be kept in every family) ready for
use, may be obtained at the City Drug Store, where
it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having
been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, 1
tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but
found, from experience, they were no go. _ On using
the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded
immediate relief. I therefore can speak from ex
perience. This invaluable oleaginous Linament
acts like magic, in removing the most acute pain,
by Burns, and seldom requires more than two or
three applications to relieve and cure those of a
severe character, either from Burning Fluid, Cam
pliine, Powder or Fire. This article is prepared
only by myself, and having tried its efficiency, be
lieve it is the best remedy that can be used, when
ever the case requires. For sale by

/,’• id th /"llou'iiuj Cert invite:
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1855.
Dear Sir —l send you this to certify to you that
your Kstram, of fellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
that lias ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years, with erup
tions on my legs and feet; in 18 is they got so bad
that 1 hud to go on crutches, and in ! 849 I had one
ieg amputated above (lie knee. In about nine
months after mv other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, front ray knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
j groin also broke out in large biles, which discharg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
, left hand broke out in large running soros nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
years, 1 cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
■ onv that I never rested day or night.
In October last, my son brought me one of vour
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, and found record of some
wonderful cures performed by vour “Extract of
fellow Dock and Sarsaparilla; 1 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two i
■ weeks, to my great astonishment, mv sores all be
came easy, and l could sleep ail night, a thing I had
nit done for two years. When I had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly all healed. My sore got
well as if L»y enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sh i - aparilla." ami I now consider inysel well.
i entreat all of the alilicted to try this medicine,
for 1 believe if will cure any known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and "just try it, and
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of Sonth !
C arolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should j
donut the above cure, I invite them to call on me, j
and 1 will show them the scars. I can be found in !
Tallepoosa countv, A la.,one mile from Sloe’s Ferrv. j
BEN AJAR HUGHES. !
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly !
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in his possession a great number of certificates
of cures performed, of the above description. We
assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guy
sottM Extract of 'i ellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
at, once regulate those difficulties, andfirenew the !
natural energies.
But up in quart bottles Brice $1 per bottle.

HOW DISEASED ACTION BECOMES ESTABLISHED
AND THE BLOOD IMPURE.
A great error has long prevailed in the minds of me
:cal men. 4 * That Impurity of the Dlood is the Cause
Diseased Action. *’ This is a serious mistake. It i
disturbance of the circulation and the establishment
diseased action, that causes impurity of the blood.
The R. It It:.theory holds the truth of the above rrm.
ims, for if a person be in a state of perfect health, each
artery and vein must carry to and from the heart it
allotted proportion of h ood, and when any set of ve

proportion, the current of blood becomes dammed uj -
