REED'S PATENT CHRONOMETER
FNGINF.
nruns is r.n improved Steam Engine, for which
S Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9,1835. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving 01 fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, ami balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Login-’- received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Seventy-five of them now in operation, ail giving
great satisfaction.

TREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
OpfMisiJ.ion to High Freight Tariffs !
Office of the Fashion Line, )
Augusta, April 15, 1854. )'
rjIHE subscriber would respectfully call the
SL aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
the Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route fertile transportation of their Merchan
; dise.
By comparing the freight tarifls of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result iu fa
vor of this route of from 3o to 50 percent., gener
ally, and in some instances a greater per coinage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of liis Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will he
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after "the discharge of the New
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of 12K per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
J.NO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
a- to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee, who ship to Savannah and Nor.hern mar
s' s, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilLa e shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
liue, will bi forwarded by Central, ami connecting

A RMCA LINIMENT, FOR BURNS,
.r* &c.—A supply of this very desirable article,
i (which should be kept in every family) ready for
use, may be obtained at the City Drug Store, where
1 it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having
i been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, I
i tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but
found, from experience, they were no go. On using
the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded
: immediate relief. I therefore can speak from ex
; perience. This invaluable oleaginous Linament
acts like magic, in removing the most acute pain,
j by Burns, and seldom requires more than two or
three applications to relieve and cure those of a
; severe character, either from Burning Fluid, Cam
| phine, Powder or Fire. This article is prepared
i only by myself, and having tried its efficiency, be
; lieve it is the best remedy that can be used, when*
: ever the case requires. For sale bv

GUYSOTTS YELLOW DOCK AND
SARSAPARILLA.
£S now put tip in the largest sized bottles, and is
acknowledged to be the best Sarsaparilla made,
as is certified by the wonderful cures it has per
j formed, the original copies of which are in the pos
; session of the proprietor. Remember, this is the
1 only true and original article.
Scrofula, Syphilis, Mercurial Complaints, Cancer,
■ Gangrene, Rheumatism, and a vast variety of otbet
i diseases are speedily and perfectly cured by the use
I of this medicine.
Read the following Certificate :
I Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1855.
! Dear Sir — l send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
: performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
j that has ever been effected on man.
1 have been afflicted for forty years with erup
tions on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad
that I had to go on crutches, and in 1849 1 had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about nine
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from mv knee to my foot, and
■ discharged a great deal ot’ offensive matter. My j
■ groin also broke out in large biles, which disebarg
j ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that I hare suffered for the last two
I years, I cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
i onr that I never rested day or night.
In October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, and found record of some
1 wonderful cures performed by your “Extract of
Yellow Dock amt Sarsaparilla;’” t sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
| came easy, and I could sleep all night," a thing 1 had
not done for two years. When I had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly all healed. My sore got
well as if by enchantment. L have now used in all
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and I now consider mysel well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
! for I believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, and
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
| entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if anv should
doubt the above cure, I invite them to call on me,
and 1 will show them the scars. I can be found in
Tallepoosa county, Ala.,one mile from Stoe’s Ferry.
DENAJAII HUGHES.'
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
i from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
■ has in his possession a great number.of certificates
; of cures performed, of the above description. \Ve
assure rite afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guv- j
: soft's Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will j
at once regulate those difficulties, and'renew the j
natural energies.
