rep ills is an improved Steam Engine, for which
iff Lettc s Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9, 1855. The nature of this
Improvement consist* of the increase of power
about do per cent, and reducing the weight of the

than any other, end when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.

Bv comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of tiiis route of from So to 50 percent., gener
ally, and iu some instances a greater per centage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment i
of his Goods together; they are not retailed by |
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting >
w ith the seaboard, with a list of charges attached '
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an- 1
o'her new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
tunes a week, delivering those Goods at this point 1
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of 12 },4 per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and i
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to

To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
a- to the Cotton Merchants, anti dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten- j

ROGERS’ LIVERWORT AND TAR,
the complete cure of Gonghs, Golds, In
fluenza, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood,
and all other Lung Complaints tending to Con
sumption.
This preparation is getting into use all over the
country. The numerous letters we receive from
our various agents, informing us of cures effected
iu their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in
saying it is one of the best, if not. the very best
Cough Medicine now before the public. It almost
invariably relieves and not unfrequently cures the
very worst ease. When all other Cough prepara
tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, as
Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians
can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town,
what has been his experience of the effects of this
medicine. If he ha* been selling it for anv length
of time, he will tell you it is the best Medicine ex
tant.
Below tve give a few extracts from letters we
have received lately regarding the virtues of this
Medicine:
Dr. S. S. Oslin, of Knoxville, Da., says: l have
been using your Liverwort and Tar very extensive
ly in my practice for three years past, and it is with
pleasure I state nty belief in its superiority over all
other articles with which t am acquainted, for
which it is recommended.
Messrs. Fitzgerald & Benners, writing from
Waynesville, N C., say: “The Liverwort and Tar
1 is becoming daily more popular in this country,
and we think justly so. All who have tried it
speak in commendable terms of it, anti say it is
very beneficial in alleviating the complaints for
which it is recommended.”
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. K.
McFall, assures us •* that he uses it with great ben
i elit in bis own family, and recommends it to his
neighbors.” He gives an instance of a Negro trie
1 man, in his vicinity, who had been suffering with
disease of the Lungs for years, attended with se
vere cough, who was relieved by the Liverwort A
, Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this Medi
! cine from all parts of the South. For a report of
the surprising cures it has performed in the West
ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in
: vite the suffering patient to read the pamphlet
which accompanies each bottle. To all, we say,
j have hope, have hope!
; Try the Medicine! Be warned in season! And
; neglect not that cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs,
j and iuviting on that dread disease, Consumption,
i when so soothing and healing a remedy can be ob
tained as Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort and Tar.
Beware of Counterfeits and base imitations!
The genuine is signed Andrew Rogers on the
engraved wrapper around each bottle.

Jic-id the folir,ring Certificate :
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1*55.
Dear Fir— l send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock anil Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
that has ever been effected op man.
1 have been afflicted for forty years with erup
tions on mv legs and feet; in ls-fs they got so bad
that 1 had to go on crutches, and in IS4& L had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about nine
months after mv other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from my- knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out iu large biles, which diseltarg
tai much offensive matter, and at the same timomv
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
Tie' misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
years, 1 cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
ony that I never rested day or night.
tn October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, a id found record of some
wonderful cures performed ’>v vour “Extract of
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla-," 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. in two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
came easy, and 1 could sleep all night, a thiug 1 had
not done for two years. When 1 had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly ail healed. My sore got
well as if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
.Sarsaparilla,’’ and I now consider mysel well.
I entreat- all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
for I believe it will cure any known disease iu the
world. Lay- aside all prejudice and just try it, and
proclaim iis great worth to null ring mankind, and
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My ease is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if anv should
doubt the above cure, l invite them to call on me,
and I will show them the scars. I can he found in
Tallcpoosa countv, Ala., one mile from Stoe’s Ferry
BENAJAH HUGHES.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
,er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in ids possession a great number of certificates
of euros performed, of the above description. We
. assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Or. Guv
! soft's Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
at once regulate those difficulties, and'renew the
natural energies.

of diseased action, which, ir not relieved, will soon run
into inflammation, and the disease becomes established
Diseased action being once established, the blond

local complaint, becomes involved in the difficulty. That
this is the true state of the ease, let any one cu l to n\. ;
his symptoms on catching cold. The local difficulty maj
be a sore throat, which is a congestion of the bloc-;
amounting (sometin es) to an inflammation about the
throat, owing to a previous deranged state of the cir
culation. and he will remember that his bowels become
costive, bis liver deranged, or his skin dry, and his b! t

congestion was siting in.as an application to the throat
and swallowed a dose of the Regulators, he would hav*
broken up the congestion, and restored the regularity

been broken in upon by the effect* of the sore throat.
Regular ty being again established, the impure blood is
-oon purified, and the circulation again equalised, and
the health restored.
