FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Ooixjtition to High Freight Tariffs !
Office of the Fashion* Line, i
Acgcsta, April 15, 1654. )
UIMIE subscriber would respectfully call the
li aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
the Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
j dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro' Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from So to 5o percent., gener
ally. and in some instances a greater per centage.
ity this route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed bv
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
: with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added dining the coining summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
1 times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DA VS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of per cent, will be allowed on all hills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods front the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Teu
: nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar-’
ki ts, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments,'as well as to prevent er
rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
! line, will bu forwarded by Central, and connecting

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
ramus is an improved Steam Engine, for which
H Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
I <>f New York, January 9,1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
I about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
1 doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
j than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
| the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Seventy-live of them now in operation, all giving
; great satisfaction.

LIFE AND DEATH.
It is the aim of most men to live healthy, and attain
a ripe old age. This, we claim, our R. K. R. Remedies
will secure to those who are now weighed down by dis
ease. or crippled with pains and aches, or other intinui
ties. The R. R R. Remedies possess medical efficacious
and healing virtues, strengthening properties and lif---
prolonging powers, that have never before been given
to the wor d. They are founded on an entirely new
theory, anil they establish new principles in the treat
ment of diseases that will enable all who use the R. R
U.’s to resist the most violent diseases and the most
destructive of pestilents. They will render the human
body proof against disease, and will enable the afflicted
to secure for themselves sound health and long life.
R. R. R.
The reader will bear in mind that the R. R. R. Rem
I edies consist of three remedies, which are known as
RADWAY’S READY RELIEF,
RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT,
RADWAY’S REGULATORS.
’ With these three remedies, we are confident that we
I can 1 aflle disease in all its vaiied phenomena—no mat
; ter by what name it is called, or how terrible it may
appear. We will, with these three simple remedies,
guarantee a speedy and effectual restoration of the liu-
I man body to sour d and vigorous health, free from all
bodily pains, aches and infirmities,
i lIOW DISEASED ACTION BECOMES ESTABLISHED
AND THE BLOOD IMPURE.
A great error has long prevailed in the minds of med
! ical men, *• That Impuiity of the Blood is the Cause of
I Diseased Action.” This is a serious mistake. It is a
disturbance of the circulation and the establishment of
' diseased action, that causes impurity of the blood,
i The It. It- It- theory holds the truth of the above raax
j ims, for if a person bo in a state of perfect health, each
artery and vein must carry to and from the heirt its
allotted proportion of blood, and when any set of ves
sels refuse v be the cause what it may) to carry then
proportion. the current of blood becomes dammed up—
j in other words, a congestion takes place, giving pain to
! a greater or less extent Here, then, is the beginning
: of diseased action, which, if not relieved, will soon run
into inflammation, and the disease becomes established.
Diseased action being once established, the blood be
comes impure, and the regularity of action on the part
of the Liver. Ski ~ Bowels. Ac , is sure to be interrupt
ed and the general system, by sympathising with the
local complaint, becomes involved in the difficulty. That
this is the true state of the case, let any one call to mird
his symptoms on catching cold. The local difficulty may
! be a sore throat, which is a congestion of the blood,
! amounting (sometirres) to an inflammation about the
| throat, owing to a previous deranged state of the cir
! dilation, and he will remember that his bowels become
' costive, his liver deranged, or bis skin dry, and bis blood
impure. Had he used Radway's Heady Relief when the
congestion was i-etting in,as an application to the throat,
and swallowed a dose of the Regulators, he would have
i broken up the congestion, and restored the regularity
ou the part of the liver, akin, bowels, Ac . which bad
been broken in upon by the effects of the sore throat.
Regularity being again established, the impure blood is
soon purified, and the circulation again equalized, and
| the health restored.

ROGERS’ LIVERWORT AND TAR,
[NOR the complete cure of Coughs, folds, In
fluenzn, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood,
and till other Lung Complaints tending to Con
sumption.
This preparat ion is getting into use ail over the
; country. The numerous letters we receive from
■ our various agents, informing us of cures effected
in their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in
saving it is one of the bi"t, if not the very best
Cough Medicine now before the public. It almost
invariably relieves and not unfrequently cures the
very worst case. When all other Cough prepara
tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, us
Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians
can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town,
what has been his experience of the effects of this
medicine. If he lias been selling it for any length
of time, he will tell you it is the best Medicine e.x
. tain.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we
have received lately regarding the virtues of this
Medicine:
Dr. S. S. Oslin, of Knoxville, Ga., says: I have
: been using your Liverwort and Tar very extensive
ly in my practice for three years past, and it is with
pleasure I state my belief in its superiority over all
; other articles with which I am acquainted, for
: which it is recommended.
Messrs. Fitzgerald A Benners, writing from
Waynesville, N. say: “The Liverwort and Tar
is becoming daily more popular in this country,
and we think justly so. All who have tried it
speak in commendable terms of ft, and say it is
very beneficial in alleviating the complaints for
; which it is recommended.’’
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. R.
McFall, assures us “ that he uses it with great ben
, efit in his own family, and recommends it to bis
neighbors.” He gives an instance of a Negro wo
man, in liis vicinity, who had been suffering with
disease of the Lungs for years, attended with so- ;
vere cough, who was relieved bv the Liverwort &
Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this Medi- !
cine from all parts of the South. For a report of
the surprising cures it has performed in the West- !
ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in- ;
rite the suffering patient to read the pamphlet
which accompanies each bottle. To all, we say,
have hope, have hope!
Try the Medicine! Be warned In season! And
neglect not that cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs, :
and inviting on that dread disease, Consumption,
when so soothing and healing a remedy can he oh- j
