FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Opposition to High Freight Tariffs !
Offick of tuf. Fashion Line, )
Augusta, April 15, 1854. j
riIHE subscriber would respectfully call the
3 aattentionof the Merchants throughout Geor
g:a, Tonuessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
she Savannah Kiver, as a safe, expeditious and
i cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from 30 to 5o percent., gener
allv, and in some instances a greater per ceutage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
j added during the coming summer. These boats
i will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
York and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of 1 it}4 per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JXO. A. MOORE,. Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Teii
nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
' JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low liver, all goods consigned to this
line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting
Railroads. aprillS

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
rfTHIS i s an improved Steam Engine, for which :
I Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed, ;
of New York, January 9, 1855. The nature of this j
Improvement consists of the increase of power j
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the i
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of uie
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting ,
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine I
renders it much more durable and easily managed j
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler j
with wheels it is portable though effective. j
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at ;
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about ;
Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving i
great satisfaction.

Bead thcfoUowinj Certificate:
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1855.
Dear Sip.— I send you this to certifi to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
that has ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years with erup
tions on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad
that I had to go on crutches, and in 1549 I had one
leg amputated above the knee. Tn about nine
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running.sores, from rav knee to my foot, and
discharged a great, deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which discharg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
left band broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two
years, 1 cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
onv that l never rested day or night,
tn October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; I read it, a id found record of some
wonderful cures performed by your “Extract of
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;’’ 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
came easy, and 1 could sleep all night, a thing I bad
not done for two vears. When ! had taken six bot
tles, my sores bad nearly nil healed. My sore got
well as if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and 1 now consider niysel well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
for I believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, and
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
entreat them (o take it, for it w ill cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if anv should
doubt the above cure, I invite them to call on me,
and l will show them the scars. 1 can be found in
Tallepoosa countv, Ala.,one mile from Stoe’s Ferry
BEXAJAU HUGHES.'
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in his possession a great number of certificates
of cures performed, of the above description. Wc
assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guv
sott's Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
natural energies.
