FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Opposition to High Freight Tariffs!
Office of the Fashion’ Link, (
Avgusta, April 15, 1854. \
IBdHE subscriber would respectfully call the
M aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
ino Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
! disc.
Uy comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from 30 to 50 percent., gener
ailv, and in some instances a greater per ventage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed bv
i him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
; to each package.
In addition to the present force of this lino, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
Vork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
i times a week, delivering those Goods at this uwint
in FIVE DAYS. ‘ **
From the present low tariff of this line a dedue-
I tionof ViYi per cent, will he allowed <lll all bills
front this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should he directed
; to M. A. COIIEN, Savannah,
and produce front the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
'in the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee. who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, hills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
rjNins is an improved Steam Engine, for which j
■ Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January t», 1855. The nature of this '
Improvement consists of the increase of power i
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
lotting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the !
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting j
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon' the boiler ;
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Modal at I
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about j
Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving 1
great satisfaction.

Gangrene, Rheumatism, and a vast variety of other
diseases arc speedily and perfectly cured by the use
i of this medicine.
Mead the following Certificate:
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1555.
' Dear Sir — l send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
I performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
| that has ever been elfeeted on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years with erup
> | tions on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad
• | that I had to go on crutches, ami in IS-itUl had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about niue
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
■ and running sores, from my knee to mv foot, and
. ! discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which disoharg
. ; ed notch offensive matter, and at the same time mv
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
] to my elbow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the fast two
years, I cannot describe to you. 1 was in such ng
onv that f never rested day or night.
; In October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, a id found record of some
wonderful cures performed by your “Extract of
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;” 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
I weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all bc
i came easy, and 1 could sleep all night, a thing 1 had
’ not done for two years. When I had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly all healed. My sore got
well us if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
1 eight bottles of your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla," and 1 now consider mysel well.
, 1 entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,,
for I believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. I,ay aside all prejudice and just try it, and
j proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
I entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
. | M v case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should
doubt the above cure, I invite them to call on me,
and 1 will show them the scars. I can be ft uml in
Tallepoosa county, Ala.,one mile from Sloe's Kerry
ISENAJAH HUGHES.'
. i The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
fn >ni irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in bis possession a great number of certificates
of cures performed, of the above description. We
assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guv
sot fs Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
at once regulate those difficulties, :md "renew the
: natural energies.
