FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
Opposition to High Freight. Tariffs !
OFFICE OF THE FaSHIO.V LxNE, \
Augusta, April 15, 1854. t
rHE subscriber would respectfully call the
aattentionof the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
too Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and :
c leap route for the transportation of their Mcrchan- j
dise. j
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with j
’hose of the South Carolina, and Cen nil, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result m la- i
vor of this route of from 3 > to 5 0 per cent., gener- j
allv, and in some instances a greater p r cemage. :
By this route a merchant receives e» ■ -hipment
of liis Goods together; they are no: filed bv ;
him as they generally are by Railroad meeting i
with the seaboard, with a list of„chat a ■ lacked !
to each package.
In addition to the present force of tiri s line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
York aud Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
umes a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAYS. j
From the present low tariff of this line a dedue- j
tionof 12jV per ceut. will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, aud
a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, aud dealers generally,
i u the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee, who ship to Savannah aud Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, bids of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, for all goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
hue, will b« forwarded by Central, and connecting

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
T’uris is an improved Steam Engine, for which
. Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9,1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
| the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
i Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving
great satisfaction.

LIFE AND DEATH.
It is the aim of most men to live healtbv, and attain
a ripe old age. This, we, claim, our R. R. R. Remedies
will secure to those who are now weighed down bv dis
ease. or crippled with pains and aches, or other infirmi
ties The K. It R. Remedies possess medical efficacious
and healing vi rtnes, strengthening properties and life
prolonging powers, that have never before been given i
to the wor d. They are founded on un entirely new \
theory, and they • stahlish new principles in the treat
ment of diseases that will enable all who use the It R
R.'s to resist the most violent diseases and the most
destructive of pestilents. They will render the human
body proof against disease, and will enable the afflicted
to secure for themselves aound health and lODg life.
R. R. R.
The reader will hear in mind that the R. R. R. Rem
edies consist of three remedies, which are known as
RAD WAY’S READY RELIEF,
RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT,
ItADWAY’S REOt'LATORS.
With these three remedius, we are confident that we
I can > attl e disease in all its varied phenomena—no mat

guarantee a speedy and effectual restoration of the hu

HOW DISEASED ACTION BECOMES ESTABLISHED
AND THE BLOOD IMPURE.
A great eirop has long prevailed in the minds of med
ical men, " That Impurity of the Blond is tile Cause of
j Diseased Action.” This is a serious mi-take. It is a
di-turhance of the circulation and the establishment of
i diseased action, that causes impurity of the blood.
The R R R. theory holds the truth of the above rnax
j ims, for if a person be in a state of perfect health, each
artery and vein must carry to and fri m the he irt its
allotted proportion o! b ood. and when any set of ves
sels refuse ,be the cause what it may) to carry their
proportion, the current of blood becomes d.iin 111 ' d up—
| in other words, a congestion takes place, giving pain to
I a greater or less extent Here, then, is the beginning
j of diseased action, which, if not relieved, will soon run
into inflammation and the disease becomes established.
Diseased action being once established, the blood be-
I comes impure, and the regularity of action on the part
of the Liver. Ski . Bowels. Ac , is sure to be intercut t
cd and the general system, by sympathising with the
local complaint, becomes involved in the difficulty. That
this is the true state of the case, let any one call to mi'd
bis symptoms on catching cold. The local difficulty mav
be a sore throat, which is a congestion of the blond.
; amounting (sometimes) to an inflammation about the
throat, owing to a previous deranged state of the cir
culation. and he will remember that his bowels become
i costive, his liver deranged,or his skin dry, and his blood
i impure Had he used Rad way’s Ready Relief when the
i congestion was petting in,as an application to the throat,
and swallowed a dose of the Regulators, he would have
1 broken up the congestion, arid restored the regularity
on the part of the liver, skin, bowels, Ac . which had
been broken in upon by the effects cf the sore throat
Regular’ty being again established, the impure blood is
! soon purified, and the circulation again equalized, aud
i the health restored.
HOW THE R. R R REMEDIES RAISED MRS. SA

dition. to sound health, after the skill of four of the
most learned Physicians in New York had failed to
relieve her—Drs. Parker. Reese.Wardle and Maclelan.

Messrs Radway A- Go —I tried your Ready Relief,
and had mv joints rubbed with it, and I never felt pain
after the first ten minutes. 1 was rubbed v, ith it. up to
the present time. Sirs. Ido not know what to compare j

cripple for two years, and had not the proper use of mv
limbs for three years. 1 was worn d»wn to a skeleton. I 1

vent and Regulators The pain left me in ten minutes ;
aud I b gan to gain strength very fast, and could walk i
with ease in a few weeks Before I heard of tour Rem i
i edies, I was taken to I>r. Parker. Dr. Reese, Dr. Wardle j
Dr. Macleliu, and many other physicians in this city, ! j
cannot now remember. 1 was completely pulled to piece.- j
by them. My constitution was broken up with raedi- !
ernes that did me no good. I could not put a foot to >
the giound, ror pick up a pin. 1 was lifted and carried I

Dkar Shi; I send you this to certify to you ilia;
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla hat
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
! that has ever been effected on man.
1 have been afflicted for forty years With erup
tions eu my logs and foot; in 1848 they got so bat.
that 1 had to go on crutches, ami in 1849 I had one
: leg amputated above the knee. In about nini
; months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, front my knee to my foot, ana
| discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which discharg
cd much offensive matter, and at the same time ruv
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my i ibow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
years, 1 cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
ony that I never rested day or night.
lu October last, my son'brought me one ofyout
bottle wrappers; I read it, a id found record of sotnt
wonderful cures performed >v your “Extract oi
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;’’ 1 sent and got tiv<
bottles of it, aud commenced taking it. in two
weeks, to ray great astonishment, mv sores all be
came easy, and 1 could sleep all night, a thing 1 had
not done for two years. When 1 had taken six bot
tles, my sores bad nearlv all healed. Mv sore go;
well as if bv enchantment. I have now used in all
i eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and I now consider rnysel well,
i _ i entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
| f°r I believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, and
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind’ ana
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them. ’
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if anv shoulu
doubt the above cure, I invite them to call on me,
and I will show them the scars. 1 can be found in
