By comparing tie’ freight tariffs of this line with

By this route a merchant receives or. . shipment

From the present low tariff of this line a deduc

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER ,
ENGINE.
This is an improved Steam Engine, for which
Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New York, January 9,1855. The nature of this j
Improvement consists of the increase of power ;
about 20 per cent, and reducing tbe weight of the ,
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by !
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the j
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the i
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting 1
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine, ‘
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than auv other, and when placed upon the boiler :
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about j
Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving
great satisfaction.

LIFE AND DEATH.
It is the aim of most men to live healthy, and attain
a ripe old age. This, we claim, our R. R R. Remedies
will secure to those who are now weighed down by dis
ease, or crippled with pains and aches, or other iniirmi
; ties. The R R R. Remedies possess medical efficacious
and healing virtues, strengthening properties and life
prolonging powers, that have never beiore been given
I to tbo wor d. They are founded on an entirely new
theory, and they • stablish new principles in the treat
ment of diseases that will enable all who use the R R
. R.'s to resist the most violent diseases and the most
i destructive of pestilent-). They will render the human
body proof against disease, and will enable the afflicted
! to secure for themselves sound health and long life.
It. R. R.
The reader will bear in mind that the R. R U. Rem
' edies consist of three remedies, which are known as
RADWAY’S READY RELIEF*
RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT.
RADWAY’S REGULATORS.
With these three remedies, we are confident that we
: can i aflio disease in all its varied phenomena—no mat
ter by what name it is called, or how terrible it may
appear. We will, with those three simple remedies,
j guarantee a speedy and effectual restoration of the hu
man body to soui d and vigorous health, free from all
I bodily pains, aches and infirmities,
i HOW DISEASED ACTION BECOMES ESTABLISHED
AND THE BLOOD IMPURE.
A great eiroi has long prevailed in the minds of med
! leal men, “ That Impurity of tho Blood is the Cause of
Diseased Action.” This is a serious mi-take. It is a
. disturbance of the circulation and the establishment of
■ diseased action, that causes impurity of the blood.
The R R R theory holds the truth of the above max
ims, for if a person be in a state of perfect health, each
j artery and vein must carry to and from the heirt its
allotted proportion of b ood. and when any set of ves
sels refuse >be the cause what it may) to carry their
proportion, the current oi’biood becomes dammed up—
! iu other words, a congestion takes place, giving pain to
j a greater or less extent Here, then, is the beginning
; of diseased action, which, if not relieved, will soon run
into inflammation and tire disease becomes established.
lMsoased action being once established, the blood be
comes impure, and the regularity of action on the part
of the Liver. Ski , Bowels, Ac , is sure to be interrur.t
, ed and the general system, by sympathising with the
local complaint, becomes involved in the difficulty. That
this is the true state of the case, let any one call to mud
h;s symptoms on catchiugcold. The lucaidifficulty may
be a sore throat, which is a congestion of the blood,
amounting (somotie es) to ru inflammation about the
throat, owing to a previous deranged state of the cir
culation. and he will remember that his bowels become
costive, his liver deranged, or his skin dry, and his blood
impure Had he used Radway’s Ready Relief when the
congestion was settingin.as an application to the throat,
and swallowed a dose of the Regulators, he would have
broken up the congestion, and restored the regularity
on the part of the liver, «ikiu. bowels. See . which had
boon broken in upon by the effects of the sore throat.
Regularity being again established, the impure blood is
soon purified, and tho circulation again equalized, and
the health restored.

Deai! Sir I send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla lias
performed oue of the most wonderful cures on me
that lias ever been effected on man.
1 have been afflicted for forty years'with emp
tions on my legs and feet; in 18is they got so bad
that I had to go ou crutches, and in IS4O I had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about nine
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from mv knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal of offensive matter. M\
groin also broke out in large biles, which diseharg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time mi
ll ft hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
years, I cannot describe to you. 1 was in such ag
onv that I never rested day or night.
In October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; I read it, a id found record of some
wonderful cures performed ’>v your “Extract of
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;” 1 sent and got two
bottles of it, aud commenced taking it. Jn two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
came easy, and I could sleep all night,' a thing I had
not done for two rears. \\ hen I had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly all healed. Mv sore got
well as if by enchantment, I have now used iu ail
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and I now consider mvsel well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to trv this medicine,
tor l believe it will cure anv known disease in the
world. Lav aside all prejudice and just try it, aud
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of .South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if anv should
doubt the above cure, 1 invite them to call on me,
and I will show them the scars. 1 can be found in
Tallepoosa countv, Ala., one mile from Stoe’a Ferrv
