Opposite >n. to High Freight Tariffs !
Office of the Fashion Link, (
Augusta, April 15, 18,54. )
IEUIE subscriber would respectfully call the
B aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
tin Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this lino with
those of the SoutlriCarolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from 30 to 50 per cent., gener
ally ■, and in some instances a greater p v rentage.
By ibis route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
lit addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
Y'ork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAY'S.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
a cheaper freight yot awaits you.
All goods frohi the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well j
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten
nessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, tliis route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rois, bills of lading should be forwarded lo M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
'MOHS is an improved Steam Engine, for which
M Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
of New Y’ork, January 9,1855. The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder;
doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, Ac. The i-xeeeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
I Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving
great satisfaction.

OTYSOTT’S YELLOW DOCK AND
SARSAPARILLA.
IS now put u|> m the largest sized bottles, and is
acknowledged to be the best Sarsaparilla made,
as is certified by the wonderful cures it has per
formed, the original copies of which are in the pos
session of the proprietor. Remember, this is the
only true and original article.
Scrofula, Syphilis, Mercurial Complaints, Cancer,
Gangrene, Rheumatism, and a vast variety of other
diseases are speedily and perfectly cured by the use
of this medicine.
Read the following Certificate :
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. 2, 1855.
Dear Sir—l send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of 1 ellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
that has ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years'with erup
tions on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad
that I had to go on crutches, and in 1849 I had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about nine
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from my knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal ol offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which discltarg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
' left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two
1 years, I cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
ouv that I never rested day or night.
In October lust, m y son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; 1 read it, a id found record of some
' wonderful cures performed by your “Extract of
1 Y ellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;” 1 sen! and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
came easy, and L could sleep all night, a thing 1 had
not done for two years. When 1 had taken six bot
tles, my sores had nearly all healed. My sore got
well as if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and 1 now consider mysel well.
1 entreat all of the afflicted to try ibis medicine,
for T believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, and
I proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
1 entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
1 My case is well known in a large portion of South
> Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should
doubt the above cure, 1 invite them to call on me,
* and I will show them the scars. 1 can be found in
r Tallepoosa county, Ala.,one mile from Sloe’s Ferry
BENAJAII HUGHES.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
}• from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in his possession a great number of certificates
of cures performed, of the above description. \Ve
3 assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guv
sott’s Extract of Y ellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
8 at once regulate those difficulties, aud.renew the
natural energies.
