Mixed Cotton.—The frequent complaints which I
j we hear induce us again to call the attention of j
planters to the existence of an evil which we have •
often before adverted to, and which loudly calls
tor a remedy. We allude to the culpable negli
gence of many whose duty it is to attend to the
packing ot cotton, as show n by the frequent dis
covery of mixed bides —viz: bales found to contain
two, three or more qualities and colors. This neg
ligence often leads to vexatious reclamations, and
sometimes to expensive law-suits, as it frequently
happens that the discovery is not made until the
Cotton reaches the hands of the manufactur
er, at a distant market. But it also frequently hap
pens that the discovery is made here, hv drawing
samples from different parts of a bale! In such
eases the Cotton is thrown back on the factor’s
hands as unmerchantable, and when re-sold as mixed
Cotton, the factor can seldom obtain more than the
market value of the lowest quality found in the
hale. Besides all this, when the irregular packing
is once discovered, as it necessarily must be sum*
where and atsome time, it I hraws discredit upon the
planter’s crop generally, and thus operates to his
disadvantage. It also introduces confusion into a
most important branch of trade, and one that can
only be conducted with facility' and economy upon !
die basis of good faith in the honesty and integri
ty ot the planter. Those virtues being accorded
m him, he owes it to himself, to his factor ami to
his purchaser to exercise more care and vigilance
over those who have his interests in charge.

H. G. FARRELL’S
CELEBRATED ARABIAN LINIMENT.
beautiful and fertile region skirting the
JL desert of Arabia, abounds with rare plants
and odorous woods, whence are procured those aro
matic gums and balsams of which this Liniment is
composed, and by whose stimulating, unctuous and
penetrating properties it is, when applied, diffused
through the whole nervous system, allaying the
most intense pain in a few minutes. Try it, when
vou will he convinced that no preparation possesses
In so high a degree, its perfect anodyne qualities.
Its action is prompt and effective. It penetrates
the flesh to the bone, relaxes contracted cords, re
storing use to limbs paralysed for years, and where
the flesh has wasted away, leaving nothing but
skin and bone, excites a healthy action, causing
new flesh to grow out and fill up the shrivelled
part. It restores the synovial fluid or joint water,
and this is the reason why it has been so success
ful in diseases of the joints. In affections of the
Spine, Liver, Lungs and Kidneys, this great reme
dy stands before any other ever produced. For
ague cake or enlargement of the spleen, it is a spe
cific. For any internal inflammation, you will find
it gives great relief. 11 has no equal in the world
for Rheumatism also, cramps, swelling, numb
ness, weak joints, Spine and Chest, pains, wounds,
chilblains, burns, sore throat, biles of insects and
reptiles, salt rheum, warts, corns, mange, and in
deed nearly all diseases which require an internal j
application, and many others, are greatly benefifted
by it. It is used externally with great success in
goitre, or swelled neck, Scrofula or King’s Evil,
Liver Complaint, nervous diseases, Ac. For Horses
or Cattle, it is as effectual as in diseases of man.
Will cure any case of Sweeney in existence : also,
