FREE TRADE AND NO MONOPOLY.
O/iJiosilioii to High Freight Tariffs !
Office of the Fashion Line, I
Augusta, April 15, 1854. j
fBHIE subscriber would respectfully call the
a aattention of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
t ie Savannah River, as a safe, expeditions and
1 neap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
loose of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from 3o to 50 percent., gener
ally, and in some instances a greater per centage.
By this route a merchant receives eaeb shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coining summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
Y ork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this hue a deduc
tion of 12>f por cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the liver more business, and
: a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Teu
! lessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern mar
kets, this route offers very favorable inducements.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors. bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
COHEN, at Savannah, forall goods from seaboard.
JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
line, will bo forwarded by Central, and connecting
Railroads. aprillo

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
r|IHLS is an improved Steam Engine, for which
| M Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed,
ut New York, January 9, 1855, The nature of this
Improvement consists of the increase of power
uliuut 2d per cent, and reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of Ihe cylinder;
j doubling the size of the port, and balancing the
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting
rods, &c. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and easily managed
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition in Paris. There are about
Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving
! ; great satisfaction.

ROGERS’ LIVERWORT AND TAR,
FOR the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, In
fluenza, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood,
and all other Lung Complaints tending to Con
sumption.
This preparation is getting into use all over the '
country. The numerous letters wo receive from j
our various agents, informing us of cures effected
in their immediate neighborhoods, warrant us in I
saying it is one of the best, if not the very best
Congh Medicine now before the public. It almost
invariably relieves and not unfrequently cures the
very worst case. When alt other Cough prepara
tions have failed, this has relieved the patient, as
Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and Physicians
can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest town,
what has been his experience of the effects of this
medicine. If he has been selling it for any length
of time, he will tell you it is the best Medicine ex
tant.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we
have received lately regarding the virtues of this
Medicine:
Dr. S. S. Oslin, of Knoxville, Ua., says: I have
been using your Liverwort and Tar very extensive
ly in my practice for three years past, and it is with
pleasure 1 state my belief in its superiority over all
other articles with which I am acquainted, for
which it is recommended.
Messrs. Fitzgerald A Benners, writing from
Waynesville, N.C., say: “The Liverwort and Tar
is becoming daily more popular in this country,
and we think justly so. All who have tried it
speak in commendable terms of it, and say it is
very beneficial in alleviating the complaints for
which it is recommended.”
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. B.
McFall, assures us “ that he uses it with great ben
etit in his own family, and recommends it to his
neighbors.” lie gives an instance of a Negro wo
man, in his vicinity, who had been suffering with
disease of the Lungs for years, attended with se
vere cough, who was relieved by the Liverwort &
Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this Medi
cine from all parts of the South. For a report of
the surprising cures it has performed in the West
ern, and Northern and Eastern States, we would in
vite the suffering patient to read the pamphlet
which accompanies each bottle. To all, wo say,
have hope, have hope!
Try the Medicine! Be warned in season! And
neglect not that cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your throat and lungs,
and inviting on that dread disease, Consumption,
when so soothing and healing a remedy can be ob
tained as Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort and Tar.
Beware of Counterfeits and base imitations!
The genuine is signed Andrew Rogers on the
engraved wrapper around each bottle.

Head the f'llltnmivj Certificate:
Tallapoosa Co., Ala., Jan. ‘2, 1855.
Dear Sir — I send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on uie
that lias ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years.'with erup
tions on my legs and feet; in 184 s they got so bad
j that 1 had to go on crutches, and in ISty 1 had one
leg amputated above the kneo. In about nine
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from iuy knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which discharg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
l to my elbow.
Tho misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
| years, I cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
ouy that l never rested day or night.
In October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrapper#; 1 read it, a id found record of some
i wonderful cures performed by vour “Extract of
1 Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;’’ 1 sent and got two
! bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, my sores all be
came easy, and I could sleep all night, a tliiug 1 had
not done for two years. When I bad taken six bot
ties, my sores luid nearly all healed. My sore got
well as if by enchantment. 1 have now used in all
eight bottles of your “Extract of Yellow Dock and
I Sarsaparilla,” and I now consider mysel well.
1 entreat all of the afflicted to try this medicine,
| for I believe it will cure any known disease in the
! world. Lay aside all prejudice and just trv it, and
I proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
; entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
M v case is well know n in a large portion of Month
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and ifanv should
doubt the above cure, I invite them to call on me,
and I will show them the scars. I can bo found in
Tallepoosa county, Ala,,one mile from Mtoe’s Ferry
BENAJAH 11 eg hem.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
! from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
i or diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in his possession a great number of certificates
of cures performed, of the above description. We
assure the afflicted, that a bottle or Uvo of Dr. Guy-
I sott’s Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla will
! at once regulate those diffleulties, andjrenew the
natural energies.
