Omen of ’ius Fashion Lin:-;, »
Avglsta, April 15, 1854. (
fSpill! subscriber would respectfully call the
C aattention of the Merchants throughout Geur
: gea, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
tin- Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
; d.-e.
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
' Waynesboro’ Railroads, it will slum a result in fa
-1 vor of this route of from 30 to 50 percent., gener
i ally, and in some instances a greater per centage.
By this route a merchant receives each shipment
of liis Goods together; they are not retailed by
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
i to each package.
In addition to the preseut force of this line, an
| other new Boat, of light, draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
; will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
‘ 1 ork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
1 times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
; in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a dedue
; tionof 12; i per cent, will be allowed on all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
i a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
: and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
as Io the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Ten

AYER’S CATHARTIC PILLS
OPERATE by their powerful
influence on the internal /S3k
viscera to purify the blood and j
stimulate it into healthy action. /
They remove the obstructions of
the stomach, bowels, liver, and
other organs of the body, and, sjZ3?f
byrestoring their irregular ac
tion to health, correct, wherev
er they exist, such derangements Emmmaniwmmammmam*
as are the first causes of disease. An extensive trial of
their virtues, by Professors, Physicians and Patients,
has shown cures of dangerous diseases almost beyond
belief, were they not substantiated by persons of such I
exalted position and character as to forbid the suspicion
of untruth. Their certificates are published in my
American Almanac, which the Agents below named are
pleased to furnish free to all inquiring.
Annexed we give Directions for their use in the com-
I plaints which they have been found to cure.
FOR COSTIVENESS —Take one or two Pills, or such
quantity as to gently move the bowels. Costive ness is
frequently the aggravating cause of Piers, and the cure
! of one complaint is the cure of both. No person can
I f e ei we li while under a costive habit of body. Hence
it should be. as it can be, promptly relieved,
i For Dyspepsia, which is sometimes the cause of Cos
: tic. ness, and always uncomfortable, take mild doses—
I from one to four—to stimulate the stomach and liver
into healthv action. They will do it, and the heartburn .
hodyburn and soulburn of dyspepsia will wipidly disap
i near. When it has gone, don't forget what cured you
! * For a Foul StomaCll, or Morbid Inaction of the
Bowels, which produces general depression of the spir
its and bad health, take from four to eight Pills at first,
i arid smaller doses afterwards, until activity aud strength
j is restored to the system. r
For Nervousness, Sick Headache, Nausea, lam
! in the Stomach, liach, or Side, take from lour to eight
f Pills on going to bed. If they do not operate sufficient,
ly, take more the next day until they do. These com
plaints will be swept out from the system. Don t wear
these and their kindred disorders because your stomach
: is foul.
?o» Scrofula. Erysipelas, and all Diseases of the
Sk. take the Pills freely and frequently, to keep the
b<,- ,is open. The eruptions will generally soon begin
to diminish and disappear. Many dreadful ulcers a-d
sores have been healed up by the purging and purifying
effect of these Pills, and some disgusting diseases which
! seemed to saturate the whole system, have completely
yielded to their influence, leaving the sufferer in perfect
. health. Patients! your duty to society forbids that yon
i should parade yourself around the world covered with
Dimples, blotches, ulcers, sores, and all or any of the
unclean diseases of the skin, because your system wants
j cleans ng.
To Purify the Blood, they are the best medicine
over discovered. They should be taken freely and fre
quently. and the impurities which sow the seeds ot in
i curable diseases, will be swept out of the system like
| chaff before the wind. By this property they do as much
| good in preventing sickness as by the remarkable cures
which they are making everywhere.
Liver Complaint. Jaundice, and all Bilious Affte
:ions arise from some derangement—either torpidity.
1 congestion, or obstructions of the Liver. Torpidity and
■ congestion vitiate the bile and render it unlit lor diges
• tion. This is disastrous to the health, and the consti
! tution is frequently undermined by no other cause. In
digestion is the symptom. Obstruction of the duct
which empties the bile into the stomach causes the bile
j to overflow into the blood. This produces Jaundice,
i with a long and dangerous train of evils. Costiveness,
j or alternately costiveuoss and diarrhoea, prevails. Fe
! verish symptoms, languor, low spirits, weariness, rest
lessness and melancholy, with sometimes inability to
I sleep, and sometimes great drowsiness; sometimes there
I is severe pain in the side : the skin and the white of the
; eyes become a greenish yellow; the stomach acid ; the
! bowels sore to the touch ; tire whole system irritab e,
! with a tendency to fever, which may turn to bilious fe
j ver, bilious colic, bilious diarrhoea, dysentery,&c. A
j medium do.-e of three or four Pills taken at night, fol
i lowed by- two or three in the morning, and repeated a
I few days, will remove the cause of all these troubles,
i It is wicked to suffer such pains when you can cure
| them for 25 cents.
I Rheumatism, Gout, and all Inflammatory Fevers
are rapidly cu.ed by the purifying effects of these Pills
! upon tiie blood and the stimulus which they afford to
i the vital principle of Life. For these an l all kindred
complaint; , they sin" Id be teken in mild doses, to move
the bowels gently, but freely.
1 As a Dinner Dill, this is both agreeable and useful.
! No Pill can be made more pleasant to take, and cer
j tainly none has been made more effectual to the pur
pose for which a Dinner Pill is employed.
