This is doing great injustice to out Bans *ug institutions, which are as solvent and as pru denflv conducted us any Banks in the State or out of it. We suppose we have to thank the (JkrotacU i Sentinel for this discredit of our money market, as that priss has, for u long time, been trying to create the impression that Wild-Cat-ism prevails here, to a deplorable extent. — G*o-<r,'a Cities*. Macon money is quoted, in this paper, in the -..sme way that we quote the price of Tenneseec- Baeon, and dial is, tor just what it is selling at. It is regarded bv uiattv persons hem as uncurrent monev ; and, consequently 1 , some little discount has to be submitted to by holders, in order to realize current funds. Macon money' is bought tip bv the Brokers, just exactly as small grocer* buy bacon front wholesale dealers, at a low enough price to make a profit on the purchase. So far as we are concerned, we have no prejudice against Macon money, and it i* a matter of indit fereuce to us whether we quote it at a discount, st par, or at a premium, provided we quote it at its current rates of sale. The Georgia Oituen, of the 19th iost., after pub lishing the resolutions, savs These were the resolutions actually passed after an animated discussion of the report of the Com mittee, and the striking out of a resolution indi rectly endorsing the nomination of Fillmore and Donelson. Several gentlemen were anxious to do this, hut v.e are happy to sav, through the able ef forts of Dr. M A Friiuklin, of this city, and Jona than Davis, Esq., of Lee, the American partv of Georgia have not been blindly committed to'the action of the Philadelphia Convention. Our read ers will recollect that the Platform of the Februa ry Convention expressly plates the American party iu opposition to the course of President Pierce, on tbe subject of Klins-is. Now, however much we have been opposed to President Pierce, and to some of the features of the Kansas Nebraska bill, we are not prepared to make au issue with the President on that question. It would be follv to do so. Besides, we do not know whether Mr. Fill more will accept the nomination, on the basis of the twelfth section of the June Platform and it would be premature to ratify his nomination until his position is clearly ascertained. These were the views taken bv the gentlemen named, and they are the views, we believe, of nine-tenths of the American party of Georgia. There is also another reason for postponing a ratification of the nomination. The present body ' is only fragmentary. Its President was not in at tendance, and but few, if any, regularly elected delegates from living Councils. The object of ths meeting, as we understand it, was simply to dis solve the organization, formally. It had therefore no business with the nominations. The recom mendation to tbe Executive Committee to call a general Convention of the partv, hereafter, is, however, well enough. Let that Committee there fore act with discretion, and make a call of the party at some duv, not earlier than the fourth of July, when it will be time enough to ratify or do otherwise, as the whole party may desire. Resuscitation vrom Apparent Death.—The j Rockport gives the particulars of a sin -1 gttlar case of resuscitation alter supposed death, j in that city : A child had, to all appearances, died, and was ’ laid out in its little winding sheet upon a board in i an upper room, while the other preparations were going forward for the funeral. The sexton was notified and the grave dug. Some time after the father went into the room where the child was, and was astonished at its calling him by name, and complainiug that it did not lie good.’ Os course the little sufferer was supplied with it better bed at ! once. These files contain the proclamation of Govern or Lyman Hall, convening the Legislature in Au gusta. Another proclamation ulludes to an act of the Assembly, passed at its last session in Savan nah, in February, 1733. If then, the Georgia Legislature was in session at Savannah, in February, 1783, and the evacua i non took place in July of the same year, it must ! be inferred that the Americans held Savannah in February, and the British in July. Does there exist in Savannah, Augusta, or Mil , ledgeville, any record or document, to show the date of evacuation ? We should bo obliged to anr correspondent who will kindly give us this infor mation. I acted in the capacity of manager in the election alluded to, and feel myself called upon for an ac count of my actings and doings. W hile the elec tion referred to was in progress, young Mr. Fielder, son ot O. M. B. Fielder, Ksq., came to the polls with a certificate enclosing a ticket from O. M. 11 Fielder. The managers informed Mr. Fielder that the vote could not be takc-u ; the friends of' Fieldei insisted that on* of the managers should wait on Mr. 0. M. It. Fielder, and receive bis vote, as it had been the universal practice in Covington, at all former elections. Thomas .1 Kitchens, Kao. one of the managers, waited on Air. O. M. lb Field er, received bis vote, brought it lo the polls, and it was received, numbered and recorded. After the entire vote of the county was counted out, and only on/r or two majority for Mr. Pharr over Mr. Baker being the result, the friends of Bn ker spoke of conmsiiug the election, and Mr. Field er’s vote was spoken of by the Know Nothings to being either illegal or improper. This gave rise to a closer examination into the matter, and it was said that some twenty or more of the operatives at and about Newton Factory bad voted, and had not paid their taxes ; and ns they were all under the surveilance of the Newton Manufacturing Compa ny, nnd the Company all good, sworn in Know Nothings, this had rather a quieting influence, and the election was not contested. A day or two be fore the January election following, 1 called on Mr. William Stewart, Tax Collector, for a list of de faulters, and informed him that 1 intended thev should either pay their taxes or not vote at Bi ew er's ; be did not furnish me with a list. On the dav of the election, the proprietors (if the Newton Fac tory were there, with the operatives, and all voted. 1 called on till, and informed them that voling was illegal bv persons who had not paid their tax, and could do no more. The Grand Jury ol the first week allowed Mr. Win. Stewart, Tax Collector, $40.78 for his insol vent list. The political Grand Jury, for the second week, March Term, 1856, who scented to have such a tender regard for the purity of the ballot-box, stood about eighteen Know Nothings to five Anties.
