AIAtt'STA. GA„ THURSDAY MORNING, JUNE 5, 1850.
General
i GRANGERS' MAGIC CORN AND COB
AND MEAL MILL,
Patented September 18, 1853.
Girardey, Whyte d• Co., Sole Agent*, Augusta, Go. !
IMPRESSED with ihe entire superiority of'
tins celebrated Mill, oyer all others for‘like
j purposes, we feel justified in presenting it to the
j public, as being all that can be consistently de
! sired.
1 ossessed of all the advantages which are so
palpably secured by the inner cone instead of the
outer, being a fixture, while the outer cone, (or
shell) revolves; of being regulated in its feed by
& single nut; of utter simplicity and accurate con
struction, these Mills present yet another, and a
rinst invaluable feature, to which public attention
!is < <pe.eur.hj invited —and which*ws believe renders
| H totally superior to any Mill extant—to-wit: the
• fmjers, i which are adjustable, and the principle
I claim under the Patent) employed on the periphery
j of the revolving or outer cone, at its base,
j These rollers (interdicted in other machines)
\ when once adjusted serve to keep the cones, under
| :l H circumstances, equi-distant on every side (no !
j matter how often the change of feed i, and utterly j
j prevent the oscilating, or rocking motion other- i
I wise incident to the revolving cone, and insepara- \
\ ble from the moving cones of other Mills. I
As among the incalculable advantages of this j
arrangement, we suggest that there can be no j
crowding of the feed on any one side of the Mill j
more than another, which in other Mills often i
brings in actual contact the sides of the Mill oppo-
site to that excessively crowded, while it immeas
urably increases the resistance to the moving
power. Again, while the yield is of more uniform
consistency, the cones may he brought almost to
gether, without danger of actual contact when in
operation—(the result oftentimes of the rocking,
or vibratory motion in other Mills,) as the rollers
serve to preserve, under all circumstances, the re
lative distance of the cones front each other. Thus
the very finest material may be ground without
the danger of actual contact between the cones;
without the wear and tear incident to this contact;
and without the increased and irregular resistance
caused by this contact advantages which every
reflecting mind will agree, cannof be over estima
ted, and which stamp this Mill incomparably tht
l#st known ! Specimens of the grinding of this
Mill may be seen, of meal, shelled oats and rve,
which cannot he surpassed by the best Burr
.Stones. A a recent public experiment, a single
horse ground at the rate of fifteen bushels ot ma
terial from shelled corn, to the hour, of which
more than one-fourth was meal, passed through a !
\o. Is sieve the balance hominy and stock :
feed in equal parts. A small pony worked with !
in sq foot lever, a No. 2 Mill, grinding eight to j
ten bushels to the hour, without difficulty. The
corn and cob ground together, exhibited beautiful
specimens of stock feed, which every true econo
mist should employ, even where there are but
three or four animals to supply.
1 he capacity of the Magic depends, in a measure,
on the kind and on the quality of the material
ground.
No. 1, designed more especially for family use,
: or very small farms, i will grind front three to live
bushels per hour. No. 2, from five to ten bushels.
No. from ten to fifteen bushels.

| signed,) will be supplied through" Agents, at the |
i different principal towns within our limits, at the j
following uniform scale of prices:

| HELL’S PATENT PLOW STOCK I
FMAIIF undersigned has invented and patented
R- a most valuable improvement in the PLOW
S’l OCIv —the county rights for which be desires to
sell. He prefers to let others speak its praise, and
therefore introduces the following certificates, from
two planters, well and favorably known in the
community in which they reside". He might in
troduce many others, but the Plow Stock will
speak for itself whenever examined.
JAMES B. MELL.
Riceboro’, Liberty county, Ga.
This is to certify that I have, will) my own hands,
thoroughly tested the newly invented Plow Stock
ol James B. Mel), Esq. In point of simplicity and
perfection, 1 have never seen or used its equal. In
it is combined every thing that I could wish in a
Plow Stock, and it, in my opinion, is the cheapest
and the best that has ever been offered to the pul>-
j Be. 1 speak lroni having used it with mv own
bauds. I was raised to follow the plow, and think
| that 1 know how one ought to run. I would cheer
i fully thank anv one, who will tiioruTiglilv trv it, to
I point out to me one single fault in it. it is’ easier
ui>ou the horse and the plowman than anv that I
have ever used.
The principle upon which you regulate the depth
><f the Plow is so simple, and yet so perfect, as to
commend itself to any one,- and the Stock is adapt
ed to any kind of Plow Hoe. It is, moreover, just
as light as any could desire it to be. 1 would re
commend to any and all, if they wish the best and
cheapest Plow Stock, without hesitation to get Mr
James B. Moll's. D. \Y. Wilson.
Penfield, Ga., April 15, 1856.
In company with several others, 1, this dav, wit
nessed the trial of Mr. .lames B. Moll’s Plow Stock,
bv Mr. I>. \\ . Wilson, and cheerfully state that all
present were fully satisfied that it does everything
as stated above. I would, moreover, state that I
have been using them on my farm for several
months, and every day serves to confirm me in the
opinion of the superiority of .Mr. Mell’s Plow Stock
to all others now in use. Thomas I’. Janes.
