GRANGERS’ MAGIC CORN AND COB
AND MEAL MILL,
l*atented September 18, 1855.
Oirardey, Whyte d' Co., S>L; Agent , Avgusta, Ua.
IMPRESSED with the entire superiority of
this celebrated Mill, over all others for like
purposes, we feel justified in r rcacntiug it to the
public, as being all that cm. be consistently dc
i sired.
Possessed of all the advantages which are so
palpably secured by the inner cone instead of the
* outer, being a fixture, while the outer cone, for
I shell revolves; of being regulated in its feed by
a slngh nut; of utter simplicity and accurate con
struction, these Mills present yet another, and a
most in i nluaNf iiture, to which public attention
. is ,-yfu. idly incited— and which we believe renders
it totally superior to any Mill extant—to-wit: the
rollers, which are adjustable, and the principle
claim under the Patent > employed on the periphery
of the revolving or outer cone, at its base.
These rollers i interdicted in other machines)
when once adjusted serve to keep the cones, under
all circumstances, equi-dislant on every side mo
1 matter how often the change of feed), and utterly
■ prevent the oseilating, or rocking motion other
* wise incident to the revolving cone, and insepara
ble from the moving cones of othe; Mills.
As auiong the incalculable advantages of this
arrangement, we suggest that there can be no
crowding of the feed on any one side of the Mill
■ more than another, which in other Mills often
brings in oetnalcontact the sides of the Mill oppo
site to that excessively crowded, while it immeas
urably increases the resistance to the moving
power. Again, while the yield is of more uniform
: consistency, the cones may be brought almost to
gether, without danger of actual contact when in
operation i dle result oftentimes of the rocking,
or vibratory motion in other Mills,) as the rollers
serve to preserve, under all circumstances, the re
lative distance oftlie cones from each other. Thus
the very finest material may he ground without
the danger of actual contact between the cones;
without the wear and tear incident to this contact;
and without the increased and irregular resistance
caused by this contact advantages which even
reflecting mind will agree, cannot be over estima
ted, and which stamp this Mill im\vn/kir,iNy th•
•-t knoim .’ Specimens of the grinding of this
I Mill may be seen, of meal, shelled oats and rve,
, which cannot be surpassed by tin* best Burr
Stones. A a recent public experiment, a single
I horse ground at the rate of fifteen bushels ot ma- j
i terial from shelled corn, to the hour, of which j
* more than one-fourth was meal, passed through a j
No. 18 sieve—the balance hominv and stock j
feed in equal parts. A small pony worked with ;
an v , foot lever, a No. 2 Mill, grinding eight to j
ten bushels to tiie hour, without difficulty. The j
• corn and cob ground together, exhibited beautiful !
specimens ot stock feed, which every true econo- j
j mist should emplov, even where there arc but i
| three or four animals to supply.
'i he capacity of the Magic depends, in a measure, i
on the kind and on the quality of the material ;
* ground.
No. 1, (designed more especially for family use, :
; or very small farms, i will grind from three to five j
bushels per hour. No. 2, from five to ten bushels, i
No. 3, from ten to fifteen bushels.
The public, i within the territory of the under
signed, i will be supplied through’Agents, at the j
; different principal towns within our limits, at the j
following uniform scale of prices:
For No. 1 $45 o*
For No. 2 55 oo

Arnica liniment, for burns,
Ac. A supply of this very desirable article, 1
which should be kept in every faniilv) ready for
use, may be obtained at the City Drugstore, where j
it is for sale at only 50 cents per bottle. Having j
been burnt severely myself with Burning Fluid, I :
tried every remedy proposed by my friends, but j
found, from experience, they were no ;/ *. On using
the Arnica Liniment, as per directions, it afforded !
immediate relief. I therefore can speak from ex ■
perienee. This invaluable oleaginous Liuumeut |
acts like magic, in removing the most acute pain, |
by Burns, and seldom requires mor. n an two or I
three applications to relieve and cure those of a >
severe character, either from Burning Fluid, Cam- !

MELL’S PATENT PLOW STOCX!
fSHIE undei •signed has invented and patented j
“ it most valuable improvement in the PLOW
STOCK the county rights for which he desires to |
sell. He prefers to let others speak its praise, and ;
therefore introduces the following certificates, from I
two planters, well and favorably known in the I
community in which they reside. He might in
troduce many others, but the Plow Stock will
speak for itself whenever examined.
JAMES R. MELL.
Riccboro’, Liberty county, Ga,
Tins is to certify that I have, with my own hands, s
thoroughly tested the liewlv invented Plow S' s i,
of James R. Mell, Esq. In point of simplicity and
perfection, 1 have never seen ot used its equal. In
it is combined every thing that 1 could wish in a t
Plow Stock, and it, in my opinion, is the cheapest
and the best that has ever been offered to the pub- j
lie. I speak from having used n with mv own i
hands. { was raised to follorv the plow, and think j
that I know how one ought to run. I would cheer
fully thank any one, who will thoroughly try it, to j
point out to me one single fault itt it. it is* easier 1
upon the horse and tlie plowman than anv that 1 i
have ever used.
The principle upon which vow regulate the depth :
of the Plow is so simple, and yet so perfect, as to
commend itself to any one; anii the Stock is adapt
ed to any kimpot J’loyv Hoe. It is, moreover, just
as light ns any could desire it to be. I would re
commend to any and all, if they wish the best and \
cheapest Plow Stock, without hesitation to get Mr. :
James R. Meliks. !>, W. Wtt.sox.
Pentiehl, Ga., April 3a, is.vt.
In company with several others, 1, this dav, wit- j
nessed the trial of Mr. James R. Meliks Plow Stock,
by Mr. 1). W. Wilson, and cheerfully state that all
present were fully satisfied that it does everything
as slated above. I would, moreover, state that 1
have been using them on my farm for several
months, and every day serves to confirm me in the ‘
opinion of the superiority of Mr. Mell’s Plow Stock
to all others now in use. Thomas P. Jaxks. i
