CLASSICAL AND ENGLISH SCHOOL-MALE AND FEMALE, At Thomson, (n", . in. rNNlir •j undersigned having permanently located ■_ as Teachers, respectfully solicit the patronage of their friends and the public generally. From several rears’ experience in teaching, and a con stant attention to the duties of their profession, they flatter themselves that the system of instruc tion which they are now prepared to give Students pursuing a tegular classical course, cannot be sur passed by any similar Institution in the State. To parents, therefore, designing to give their sons a Collegiate education, their services are especially tendered, since a thorough acquaintance with the preparatory studies is Indispensable to the Stu dent's progress throughout his whole course. Their Academy Pupils will be prepared to enter the high er classes of College, or if preferred, thoroughly instructed in a more practical and business course. The accessibility, health and quietness of their location—its freedom from scenes and causes of dissipation—induce them to hope for a continuance of that liberal patronage, which for many years they have not failed to secure. A strict regard will be paid to moral training, and the general deportment of each pupil carefully observed. Qirardt'f, Whttte d- Oft., Sole Agents, Augusta, Ga. r.YI PRESSED with the eniire superiority of this celebrated Mill, over all others for like purposes, we feel justified in presenting it to the public, as being all that can be consistently de ; sired. Possessed of all the advantages which are so palpably secured by the inner cone instead of the outer, being tv fixture, while trie outer cone, (or shell i revolves; of being regulated in its feed by i single nut; of utter simplicity and accurate con struction, these Mills present yet another, and a mml incahtahle feature, to which public attention is ■ *perhUy in fde4— and which we believe renders i it totally superior to any Mill extant —to-wit: the rollers, i which are adjustable, and the principle claim under the Patent (employed on the periphery of the revolving or outer cone, at its base. These rollers (interdicted in other machines) 1 when once adjusted serve to keep the cones, under i all circumstances, equi-distant on every side (no matter how often the change of feed ), and utterly prevent the oscilating, or rocking motion other i wise incident to the revolving cone, and insepara ble from the moving cones of other Mills, j As among the incalculable advantages of this j arrangement, we suggest that there can be no I crowding of the feed on any one side of the Mill more than another, which in other Mills often 1 brings iu actual contact the sides of the Mill oppo | site to that excessively crowded, while it immeas urably increases the resistance to the moving j power. Again, while the yield is of more uniform j consistency, the cones may be brought utmost to gether, without danger of actual contact when in j operation -(the result oftentimes of the rocking, I or vibratory motion in other Mills,) as the rollers serve to preserve, under all circumstances, the re lative distance of the cones from each other. Thus | the very finest material may be ground without ! the danger of actual contact between ihe cones; j without the wear and tear incident to this contact; j | and without the increased and irregular resistance I • caused by this contact -advantages which even ' reflecting mind will agree, cannot he over estima- j ted, and which stamp this Mill incomparably the ! wsthiown ! Specimens of the grinding of this j Mill may be seen, of meal, shelled oats and rve, j which cannot he surpassed by the best Burr j Stones. A a recent public experiment, a single j horse ground at the rate of fifteen bushels ot ma terial from shelled corn, to the hour, of which ; more than one-fourth was meal, passed through a | No. 1- sieve— the balance hominy and stock ! feed in equal parts. A small pony worked with j an 8 1 ., foot lever, a No. 2 Mill, grinding eight to j ten bushels to the hour, without difficulty. The j corn and cob ground together, exhibited beautiful j specimens of stock feed, which every true econo mist should emplov, even where there are but three or four animals to supply. The capacity of the Magic depends, in a measure, i on the kind and on the quality of the material I ground. No. l, idesigned more especially for lamilv use, or very small farms, ) will grind from three to five | bushels per hour. No. 2, from five to ten bushels, j No. 3, from ten to fifteen bushels. The public, . within the territory of the under signed, will tie supplied through Agents, at the ! ! different principal towns within our limits, at the I i following uniform scale of prices: For No. 1 *4f, •" ! | For No! z'.'.Y. 65 j Parties desiring to secure Agencies in the conn I I lies of Burke, Washington, Columbia and Lincoln, I | will, on application, be promptly furnished with ! our circular, giving terms, Ac.
