NOT A BOOK! NOR A PAPER
Tvron a Dollars’ worth of property, has ever been lost in one
of Steams Sc Marvin’s, Wilder’s Patent, Rich’s Improve
ment, SAL AM AN DEK SAFES.
J royn the N. Y. Journal of Commerce, Nov. 12.
RECENT AND CONVINCING TESTIMONY.
New Y t ohk, Nov. 11th, 1856.
Ji* t yj*rß. Editors : In the tire at No. 39 Warren street, on the
morning of the 9tli inst., our most valuable books and papers
wt ie exposed for 36 hours in one of Stearns A Marvin's fire
proof safes.
W'e tire-proof, not because they are so labeled, but be
cau-'t- we have so proved them. Our books and papers came
nut uninjured, save the binding of the hooks, occasioned by
steam.
Our store was five stories above ground and two stories be
iow, occupied from cellar to garret." The intensity of the heat
can ! - attested by any fireman who witnessed it. No furnace
could be contrived by the ingenuit y of man to create a more in
tense heat.
We voluntarily give this tribute to the value of these safes,
and select vour widely circulated commercial journal to inform
the mercantile community what estimate to place upon Steam's
d- Marvin's. Wiid> r'a Patent, Salamander Safer.
Respectfully,
