Messrs \ AN FCIIACK A GRIERSON, Charleston, a Hie authorised Agents lor South Carolina. mar 24 d.cly Scrofula, or King’s Evil, 18 a constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood, by . which t his fluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor, Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease on any part <f it.. No or-'an is Dee from its attacks, not is there one which it may not destroy. The scro fulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low liv ing, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, tilth, and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above ali by the venereal infection. Wludcv rhe its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution, descending **from parents to children unto the third ; generation;” indeed, it seems to be the rod ot Him who says, ! **i will visit the iniquities of the at hers upon iheir children.” Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of cor rupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the liver, and inter nal organs, is termed tubercles ; in the glands, welling*: and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruntion, which genders in the. blood, depresses tke energies of life, so mat MTofulouseonatitutioiis nut only suffer from scrofulous ’ ompiaints, but they have far less power to withstand the at tacks of other diseases; consequently, vast numbers perish by disorder* which, although not scrofulous in their nature, :re still rendered fatal hy this taint in tlie system. Moat of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive d'seases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from, or are aggravated by the suim cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous ; their persons are invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is un dermined by it. To cleanse it from th * system, we must re novate this bloood by an alterative medicine, and Invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in AYE R * S COMPOUND EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times •an devise for this every where prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the m< st active remedial* that have b en discovered fur the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system irom its destruc ive consequences. 1L nee. It should be employed for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from It. such as Eruptive avd Skin Disease-. St. An thonv’s F ire. Rose or Erysipelas, Pimples. Pustules, Blotches, Liams and Roils, tumors. Tetter and Salt Rheum. Scald Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mercurial Dis eases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia. Debility, ami, indeed, all com plaints arising from vitiated or impure Mood. The popular belief in •'impurity of the blo< u*‘ is founded In truth, tor Scro fula is a degeneration of the bb od. The particular purpose and virtue ofthi> SARSAPARILLA is to purify and regvn r ate this vital fluid, without which sou ud he alia is impossible in contaminated constitutions. AYER'S CATHARTIC PILLS. FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY I’HYsIC, are so composed that disease within the range of their action can rarely withstand or evade them. Their penetrating pro parties search, ami cleanse, and invigorate every portion of the t.un.an organism, correcting is diseased action, and restoring its healthy vitalities. Asa consequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down with pain or phys cu 1 debility, is astonished to Him his health or energy rcsiored by a reme dy at once so simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every* day complaint* of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous diseases, l’he ag-nt below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing certificate* of their cures, and dlrectiotf* for their use in the following complaints : Coativeness, Heart burn. Headache arising from disordered Momach, Namva. In digestion, Pain in and morbid inaction of the bowels. Flatu lency, Loss of Appetite, Jaundice, and other kindred com plaints, arising from a low state of the body, or obstiuction of its functions. Ayers Cherrv Pectoral for the rapid cure of Coughs, Colds, Influenza, Hoarseness Croup, Bronchitis, Incipient Consumption, and forth relic of Consumptive Pu’ionts in advanced stages of the disease. So wide is the field of its usefulness, and to numerous are the cases of its cures, that almost every section of country abounds in persons publicly known, who have been restored from alarming, and even desperate diseases of the Lungs bv its use. When one** tried, its superiority over every other medicine of its kml is to apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to unploy f*-r ihe distressing and dangerous nf factions nf the pulmonary organs tha; are incident to our cli mate. While many interior remedies thrust u,>on the com munityhave .ailed aud been discarded, this ha* gained friends by every trial, c <uferred benefits on the afflict'd they can nev er forget, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
