Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease on any part ot It . No or. r an is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The scro fulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low liv ing, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, tilth, and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal inst ction. YVnatev. rbe its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution, descending ■ ‘from parents to children unto the third generation;” indeed, it seems to be the rod ot Him who says. •*l will visit the iniquities of the at hers upon their children.” its effects commence by deposition from the blood of cor rupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and inter ual organs, is termed tubercles ; in the Blands,s wellings: and on the surface, eruptions or sores. Tills foul corruption, which genders m the blo->d, depresses ike energies of life, so teat scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power t.o withstand the at tacks of other diseases ; consequently, vast numbers perish by disorder# width, although not scrofulous in tlieir nature, are still reudered fatal by this taint in the system. Most or the Consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in th s scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from, or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous ; their persons ar* invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is un dermined by it. To cleanse it from the system, we must re novate the bloood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate It by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in A V K ii ’ S COMPOUND EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA the most effectual remedy wliichthe medical skill of our times can devise for this every when- prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the most active rrineriJals that have Ii eu discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the Maud, and the rescue of the system iioin ila destruc ive coustquences. Hence, it st.ould b<- employid tor the cure ot not only Scrofula, but also loose other affei.tions whioli arise from it, such as Eruptive ad t-kin ldsease-, St. An liicny's File, Rose 01 Ery-'peias. So wide is the field of its fisefulni ss, and w> numerous arc the cases of its cures, that almost every section of country abounds in persona publicly known, who have been restored from alarm.ng, and iNen desperate diseases of the Lungs by its use. When once tried, its superiority over every other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitat* what antidote to mploy for the distressing and dangerous nf factions of the pulmonary organs that are incident to our cli mate. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the com muhity have tailed amt been discarded, this hasgaired friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted they can nev er forget, arid produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
