It is the most perfect anti-p riodic—always Breaking the (liiill iD three or four doses; but better than that or all else, andwh.it renders it the roost eftlcient and valuable compound extant, is the universally conceded fact that it leaves the patient in better health tbau before the attack, with no puffing up of the skin, no buzzing in the head, no deafness, no impaired vision, but a clear head, a transparent skin, a bright eye, an elastic step and bu 'jant health. It eliminates dlrease trom the system by dissipating engorgements of the secretions, exciting the liver to healthy action and giving the pancreatic and hepatic juices (heir normal condition and healthy flow. He therefore en deavored to invest it with strong*4 possible • afe guards .again-1 counterfeiters, and to renderalla'- tempts to pirate it difficult and dangerous. It was submitted to distinguished chemists tor anatjsis, and pronounced t.y ih'-m the purest spirits evtr manu<ao timd. Its purity htj<l properties having been thus ascertained, .sample* of the aitiple were sent to ten thousand physicians, including aii the leading prac titioners in the United Slates, tor purpose* 01 ex periment. A circular, reouesiing a trial of the prepa paration and report of the result, accompanied each specimen. Edur thousand of the most eminent med ical tueo. in the Union promptly responded. Their opinions of the article were unanimously favorable Bucb a preparation, they said, bad lung been wanted by the profession, as no relianco could be p igeed on the ordinary liquors of commerce, ail of which were mere o leas adulterated, and theres -re tmtit for medi cal purposes. The p culiar excellence aud strength of the oil of juniper, which formed one of the.priucipul ingiedientfl of the Schnapps, together with an un alloyed character of the alcoholic element, give it, in the estimation of the faculty, a marked superiority over every other diffusive sfitpuiant as a diuretic, tonic and restorative. The following are a few of the testimonials in favor of the Schnapps: Mr. Udolpho Wolfe, 22 Beaver street, New York: Dam Sik: I f#o! bound to say that I regard your Schnapps as being in every respept pre-emineutly pure, aud deserving of medical patronage. At all events, it is the purest possible artlelo of Holland Gin, heretofore unobtainable, and as such may bo safety prescribed by physicians. DAVID L. MOTT, M. D., Pharmaceutical Chemist, New York. 26 TINE STREET, NEW YORK, ) November 21, 1867. S Udolpho Wolfe, Euq., Present: Dear Sib : I have made a chemical examination of a cample of your Schiedam Schnapps, with the in tent of determining if any foreign or injurious sub stance bai beon added to the simple distilled spirits. The examination lias resulted in the conclusion that the sample contained no poisonous or harmful ad mix ure. I have been unable to discover a y trace of the deleterious substances which are employed in the adulteration of liquors. I would not hesitate to use myself, or to recommend to others, for medicinal pur poses, the Schiedam Schnapps, qs an excellent and unobjectionable variety of Gin. Very respectfully, yours, (Signed] CHAB. A. BEKLY, Chemist. NEW FORK, 53 CEDAR STREET ) November 23,1867. $ Udolpho Wolfe, Esq., Present: Dbab Sir : I have submitted to chemical analysis two bottles of Schiedam Schnapps, which 1 took from a fresh package In your bonded warehouse, and find, as before, that the spirituous liquor is free from injurious ingredients or falsification ; that it has the merits of being aged and not recently' prepared by mechi, riical admixture of alcohol and aromatics. Respectfully, FRED. 7. MAYER. Chemist. CHEMICAL * TECHNICAL LABORATORY, I 18 Exchange Place, > N*w Yon*, November 25, 1867. ) Udolpho Wolfe, Esq.: Dhar Bib: The understood have carefully and and thoroughly analyzed a sample of your “Aromatic Schiedam Schnapps,” selected by ourselves, and have found the same free from alt organic or inorganic sub stance*, more or less injurious to hea’th. From the result of off. r examination, we consider the article one of superior quality, baalthiul as a b verage, and effec tual in its medicinal qualities. Respectfully, yours, ALEX. SPECIAL NOTICES. IMPORTANT.—THOSE WHO HAVE attained to the greatest eminence in the science of Medicine, and who have by a life long study of, and experience with, the human organism, obtained great insight into the origin and pathology of disease, are yet, notwithstanding all their profound aud learned theories, confessedly groping In the dark aa to the first cause of any and all diseases that affect our race. But this much has been clearly elae'd&ted, and is become an axiom with the learned profession, that by far the greatest number of our ail a cats are directly traceable to derangement of the digestive functions, and if “ good digestion wait on appetite, ’ health will be ibe almost uniform result. Actm- upon this axiom, the Inventor of DR. HURLEY’S CELEBRATED STOMACH BITTERS has been eminently success ful (judging from the maay testimonials that are con stantly pourieg in upon him through the mails and press), in preparing a remedy to meet and “ nip in ihe bud ” all this long list of obscure and distressing de rangements that rt nder ‘‘ life scarce worth the living.’’ We are glad to learn that the public here are be ginning to appreciate these BITTERS upon their in trinsic merits, and that they can be had everywhere.
