A Grave Beside a Stream.
BY HUGH MACMILIAN,
RBV VIL 17. f«.
Howjstrance the union of the stream and grave !
Eternal motion and eternal rest;
Earth’s billow fixed beside the transient wave
Upon the water’6 breast.
The Summer cloud upon the height distills
Each 6unny ripple hurrying swiftly past;
And man’s proud life, like fleeting vapor, fills
• This wave or earth at last.
The streamlet, through the church-yard’s sol
emn calm,
Sounds like an ancient prophet’s voice of
faith,
Chanting beside the grave a glorious psalm
Os life in midst ot death.
The living water and the burial mouud
Proclaim, in parable, that through death’s
* sleep
Flows on tor aye, though none may hear Its
sonnd,
Life’s river still and deep.
The grave like Lallan’s- "heap ol witness”
seems,
Raised ’twixt the sleeper and the world’s
alarm,
O’er which no anxious cares or evil dreams
May pass to do him harm.
No more he wrestles by the brook of life ;
The night Is past—the angel stands revealed;
He now enjoys the blessings wrung from strife,
And every wound is healed.
The Miniature Ocean Steamer.—A
foreign exchange gives the following ac
count of the diminutive ocean steamer,
whose sailing was announced by telegraph
from Liverpool some days ago:
The tiny steamer City of Kaguse attracts
much attention at Liverpool. She is twen
ty feet long, and is the property of Captain
Pimorez, but to be sailed by Captain J. C.
Buckley. Both gentlemen appear confl
dent that with the course they have planned
out for themselves, and with fair weather,
they will be able to reach New York in
about fifty days. The City of Raguse Is
covered over her whole length, and lined
inside to the flooring, having a manhole or
cockpit amidships. “ Below” is fitted up
with as much comfort as the limited space
would permit of. There is a patent stove
for cooking the provisions—there being
three months’ supplies on board—on the
voyage; and also a sleeping space lor either
skipper when he is not on “ watch.” The
boat is rigged as a yawl, and can spread
about seventy yards of canvas. Her tanks
are capable of containing one hundred gal
lons of water; but should any accident oc
cur by which it would be necessary to light
en the vessel, a tap can be undone, and the
water, if necessary, allowed to escape. The
City of Raguse is fitted up with a two
bladed auxiliary propeller, which can be
worked by hand on the same principle as a
ship’s pump. Besides Messrs Pimorez and
Buckley, the only living thing on board
will be a fine Newfoundland dog.
I SWEET QUININES

when neglected.
SWEET QUININE
is made solely from P ruviau Bark (so
is Bitter Quinine), therefore is of Vegetable
origin, and not f. Mineral poison, but on the
contrary Is proved to be one of the elements
found Id the blood of all healthy persons.
SWEET QUININE
acts as an antidote to. as we'l as a cure
for, malarial or miasmatic poison,
the absorption of which by the lungs causes
intermittent Fevers, etc. The only advan
tage claimed for
SWEET QUININE
over the use of old Bitter Quinine Is the en
tire absence of that intense, persistent
bitterness, which in the latter is an insur
mountable obstacle to its use with most per
sons, and always with children.
SWEET QUININE
is in two forms- in Powder, for the use of
Physicians and Druggists, and Fluid, for
use in the family and for the general public.

that no harm can arise from its use in any quantity.
That which protects from or prevents this disor

cure, for the patient escapes the risk which he
must run in violent attacks of this baleful distem
per. This « Cork ” expels ths minstnatM poison of
Fever and Ague from the system, and prevents
the development of the disease, if taken on the first
approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not
only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this
class of complaints, but also the cheapest. The
large quantity we supply for a dollar brings it
within the reach of everybody; and in bilious dis

Fever and Ague fs not alone the consequence of
the miasmatic poison. A great variety of disorders
arise from its irritation, among which are Neural

Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Palpitation,
Painful Affection of the Spleen, Hysterics, Pain in
the Bowels, Colic, Paralysis, and derangement of
the Stomach, all of which, when originating in this
cause, put on the intermittent type, or become
periodical. This “Cure” expels tin poison from
the blood, and consequently cures them all alike,
