THE SUNNY SOUTH.
My Old S-wedfceart.
BY T. F. SMITH.
Beside my quiet hearth to-night,
I sit and ponder, all alone.
I dose and lay the album down.
To muse on faces I have known.
And then from memory's crowded hall.
Where busy fancies start a pace
These rises, like a l’hcoeix born,
A shadowy form of airy grace.
I see again those beaming eyes.
Clear as the am re vault above.
They thrill me with the charm to-night
That kindled first the fire of loYe.
I feel again within my own
The little hand 1 used to press:
And press again the rosy lips,
And feel her answering caress.
We walk together w here of old
We used to linger, side by side :
And plan again the little home.
Where she should reign my loving brid*.
Beneath the grand o'd giant oaks,
We'd build this little eot of ours:
FH1 it with ail that heart con'd wish.
And hedge it round with rosy bowe-s.
And I would still hor lover bo,
When Time her golden hair had bleached;
And she would still he true to me.

Ah, well 1 my dream is over now,
I wake to know it cannot be.
Perhaps my “Love of other days,"
Has often dreamed the same of me.
And when we meet no one would knew
That we had ever lovers been;
For I’ve a wife to bless my life.
And she has "gone fn love" again.
