Jambs Pkcb. The Devil's Visit to Washington. The Devil sat on his sulphur throne, And heard with a bitter grin, Reports from the planet he deemed his own, As his black subs brought them in. The Fenian scare in Great Britain pleased Hie'synical temper well; And the news from Brazil and Paraguay, From Hayti, Peru and Sisil Bay, Not forgetting the late Chinese affray, Rather tickled the King of Hell. But when his scouts of this “ Happy Land ” Delivered their dark report, 'fhe Demon waved in the smoke his hand, And gave a triumphant snort. “This news,” he yelled, “is the best I’ve beard 1 Since sm on earth began; , The work 1 favor goes bravely on, The ‘Model Republic’ is dead and gone, And the powers that govern at Washington Have adopted my patent plan.” 'Then turning to Moloch, Hie Darkness said, “ I’m off tor the Ten Miles Square; Rule thou, old bov, in thy master’s stead, While I see to business there." The blackamoor carriers, one and all, Applauded their chief like mad ; Bo he changed his shape, as the devil can, And up to earth on a fir a streak ran, In outward seeming a Congressman, Os the lovely genius Rad, Os course hie Blackness was well-received By his troop of special friends, Who laid before him the plans conceived, To compass their private ends. Thad. Stevens, Sumner and old Ben. Wade, Ned Stanton and Butler too; They told him of dodges, plots and setem'es. Atrocious beyond his foulest dreams, Until he exclaimed, “For me it seems There is nothing on earth to do.” 80 he turned on hie heel and went his way, A sadder, a wiser sprite, Observing: “ A lesson I’ve learned to-day, That has changed my purpose quite. I meant to have had these fellow’s souls, When from earthly bonds set. free; But I now prefer they should go it alone, In a separate private hell of their own, For I swear by my horns, and tail and throne, They’re a little too much for me.” Democritus. You May Be Too Late. Be warned in time. Diseases like Indigestion and Dyspepsia are not to be trifled with. There is such a thing as being too late in these matters. Inflamma tion, or Bcirrhus Cancer, or some other dangerous disease may ensue, when all restoratives, no matter how potent, would be ineffectual. Do not delay then. When the symptoms of Dyspepsia are first experienced resort at once to the great restorative medicine, HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS, and you will be safe. But few disorders involve greater suffering, and, if not in itself immediately dangerous, it is the source of many deadly maladies. Even if it did not tend to greater evil, the mental and physical misery it produces is alone a sufficient reason why no pains should be spared to pre vent or cure it. In no country on the face of the globe is it so completely domesticated as in our own, where it is found in nearly every household. HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS are universally conceded to be the sovereign remedy for.this annoying disease, as they act directly upon the digestive organs, correct and tone the stomach; and give renewed vitality to the system.— Acting delightfully upon the nerves and soothing the brain, renders them efficacious as a mental medicine, as well as a genial stomachic. If taken as a preventive, they will hr found particularly well suited to the diseases arising from the unhealthy season of autumn, and their use will prevent the creeping, unpleasant sensation often complained of when the chills are stealing slowly upon the patient. apls-eod»ctmyi Bar TRUE BUT STRANGE.—Any person sending u s their address, with 20 cents, will receive, by mail, the’ Name and Carte de Visite Os their future Wife or Hus band. REMARKABLE CURE OF CANCER ON THE FACE OF FOURTEEN YEARS’ STANDING. This will certify that I have suffered with cancer on my face for the past fourteen years. It has re sisted all treatment, until I applied to Dr. L. DeLacee, at the Augusta Hotel, the 10th day of last month. He took the cancer out, roots and all, the Bth day, by medicines. It healedtef its own accord, and now I am entirely cured of cancer, and able to say to all that may be afflicted with this most terrible disease that, if you apply in time, while your case is’ curable, you will to cured. The Doctor has cured others in the same time, some that I am acquainted with, who live in this city. lam sixty years of age, and have resided in Augusta four years. Mr.s. F. PRICE. Augusta, Ga., January 2,1868. MORE EXTRAORDINARY CURES. Augusta, Ga., November 21,1867. This will certify that I have been afflicted with can cer in the root of my mouth. It was so painful that I could not rest night or day. It was with great diffi culty that I eould get food enough by it to support life. It resisted all medical treatment, and finally eat entirely through the roof of my mouth into my nose. I applied to Dr. Ds Lacbb just four weeks ago to day, and am now able to announce, for the benefit of those that may be suffering from this terrible disease that I am entirely cured of cancer, and restored to perfect health, and am as well as 1 was before being afflicted. All other Compounds or Syrups of this root have hitherto failed to command the sanction of the Facul ty, because on being tested, tkey have been found to contain noxious ingredients, which neutralize the good effects of the Sarsaparilla, and oftentimes injure the health of the patient.
