We need a revival of practical
honesty at the present timi—that

in their own name, and really put
it forward as the basis of credit.
To be really lutnest now will re
| quire quite a change in the habits
and style of living of a great many
people. In order lo keep up with
their neighbors in houses, in
dress, in equipage, in tahie fare, a
large number of persons are going
beyond their ability. They can
not do so and pay for what they
get. Rather than make a poorer
appearance than other people,
many will go beyond their means,
and embarrass themselves by
promises to pay which they never
can meet.
Now it strikes us that it is bet
ter to be honest than to live hand-
iomely at somebody else's ex
pense. Where the glory comes in
