From The Block To The Hill By RX. Other Y’all remember Tommie Olds don’t you? Well, I talked to Tommie via telephone last week. He’s a special assistant in the Community Relations-Division of The Department of Justice. For those of you who don’t know Tommie, he is the former Black Police Lieutenant with the Augusta Police Department, who set so many “first Black” records for that department. First Black Sergeant, First Black Vice-Squad Commander, first Black Community Relation Team member, and first Black lieutenant with the force. Ben Sloan, 111, Superior Court Reporter is Seeking a judgement to recover some' $ 11,000 or more from - Guess Who? It was nice seeing Connie Singletary, Grady Abrams, Jessie (Blue) Lee and Curtis Mackey. Panhandlers have a new approach on Broad Street. Ike of Boston comes to Augusta via television June 24th. He will be televised every Sunday morning at 7:30 AM beginning on that date. The program will be named “The Joy of Living”. Hey, hey the second issue of Dawn magazine will be featured in the June 28th edition of the News-Review. Dawn is a relatively new Black Magazine that is published Nationally and is featured in thirty-seven Black newspapers across the country. The next issue will feature such “Hot News Items” as Bobby Womack: Not Just A Ghost of Sam Cooke; Dawn Sports Gallery with Black Professional Tennis Star Arthur Ashe; Black Baseball Stars find the Designated Hitler Rule a blessing with Orlando Cepeda, Rico Carty, Tommy Davis and Frank Robinson; “Life in a Vietnamese Prison Camp with former Black POW Air Force Captain Anthony Marshall. And you most certainly don’t want to miss “The Dawn Quiz” and “What’s going on and Where”. So be on the lookout for Dawn, Dawn, Dawn Magazine, it’s coming June 28th along with your News-Review. Arthur says that 92 percent of the funds will go directly to the enrollers. That will be for kids, 240 to be exact, to work 35 hours a week. Wyche National Black News Service WASHINGTON-A lot of black women who have achieved more than black men are considerably uneasy about the sometimes militant feminism ofthe 19705. That’s the persistent theme of the National Black Women’s Political Leadership Caucus annual convention held here over the weekend, and it’s a re-occuring problem that black McCann, Ann Olds, and Vincent Graham’s Wishbone on Wrightsboro Road. Last December 1972 Mr. Simowitz had the audacity to say Richmond County wasn’t ready for a Black Chairman. This too was a regrettable mis-application of judgment and racism on the part of Mr. Simowitz.
