Ike And Tina Turner Face Panther Suit (From Amsterdam News) The Black Panthers Party in Oakland, Calif, in a hassle with the top-rated Ike and Tina Turner Revue, threatened to sue the group for libel and breach of contract. At the same time, Ike Turner announced that he’s is going to court to press criminal charges against the Black Panthers Party for injuries suffered when he was slugged over the head with a lead pipe during a concert July 27 sponsored by he Panthers. The trouble started, according to a report, when Ike tried to intercede in a a scuffle involving his guitarist at the Oakland Auditorium where the concert was held. Other members of the Turner band were allegedly beaten by stage security forces near the end of the hour ong performance, where they tried to leave the stage. Fee Dispute According to Elaine Brown, minister of information for the Panthers, a disagreement over the final $450 balance of the $7,500 fee to the Turner revue set off the bitter dispute. The Turner group demanded payment in cash instead of by check. The beating incident, according to Turner, occurred when guitarist Jackie Clark went to investigate who had entered his dressing room. He was attacked by a member of the Panthers security force. NATHANIEL JACKSON (Continued from Page 6) th* people it desires to serve. However, he says that the media along with referrals by agencies has helped to educate people concerning AOIC. Other future plans for AOIC include moving to a larger more convenient area and an African tour which will be conducted next summer. Last week Jackson attended an OIC Managerial Skills Development course in New York. The course was sponsored by General Electric and was designed to develop new skills and sharpening existing skills in preparation for a more advance OIC. Although AOIC is mainly interested in servicing Augusta, trainees from neighboring counties are accepted in the program. GIVE TO THE UNITED HEGRO COLLEGE FIND.
