M Never Say "Basta! 1 to Pasta Johnny Mathis-Style How does Columbia re cording star Johnny Mathis serve spaghetti? With lots of style.lt comes from years of practice. He’s been cookirig since childhood, when his parents taught all seven of their children how to get a round the kitchen. These days, with a full schedule of concerts, television and nightclub performances a round the world, Johnny still likes to cook his own dinner. On the road, he settles into a hotel suite with kitchen whenever possible and keeps turning out de licious “home” cooked meals in preference to end less restaurant meals. “That way,” he says with a certain smile, “if I’m in the mood for spaghetti, I go in the kitchen and make it.” Johnny also serves this unusual pasta dish to friends when he’s relaxing at home between tours. Home is a Hollywood man sion complete with indoor everything including a swimming pool in the foyer, an Arabian Nights wine cel lar, color TV in the sauna and plushy walls that yield to the touch. To complete the menu, Johnny serves a salad and fresh fruit. This helps to balance the meal nutritionally and keep the total calories down. That way, guests can enjoy with a clear conscience: .v-w VOTE The Augusta News-Review - October 4, 1973 - in ~ » IBmp ■I W 1 " q SPAGHETTI CARBONARA (Makes 6 to 8 servings) 1 package (1 pound) spaghetti 8 slices bacon % cup butter % cup undiluted Carnation Evaporated Milk 2 dashes cayenne 3 eggs x /i cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon chopped parsley Salt Pepper Cook spaghetti according to package directions.
