Broad Street’s First Black Clothing Store Holds Grand Opening “Supreme Fashions”, the first Black owned clothing store on Broad Street, held its grand opening Friday with a host of dignataries including State Representative, R.A. Dent, Mayor Lewis A. Newman, Commissioner Edward Mclntyre, Rev. Arthur D. Sims, W.S. Hornsby, Jr and Solomon Walker 111. The affair, given by Mrs. Gardner’s daughter Mary Ida, was held at the Pilgrim Civic Center Sunday. Miss Gardner is executive director of the YWCA Job Corps in New York City.
