The Open House was sponsored by the FHA members and Home Economics classes. Dresses, skirts, aprons, jumpers, cakes, pies, cookies and many Christmas decorations and gifts were on exhibit. All of the items were made in the home economics classes and as home projects. Parents, teachers, students and friends were invited. It was a great success and enjoyed by everyone. Newman recently appointed Frank T. Delley to the newly created Augusta Richmond County Canal Technical Committee. Delley, the only Black serving on the committee, is a graduate of Prairie View College, with a B.S. degree in Architetural Engineering is presently the Director of Plant Operations and Plant Development at Paine College. Following a three year tour of duty with the U.S. Army where he was a second Augusta Taxpayers Association Conducts Membership Campaign Local citizens interested in joining the newly formed Augusta Taxpayers Association may do so, according to temporary chairman Lansing B. Lee, Jr. by sending $lO to Association treasurer Willard Pryor, P.O. Box 2111, Augusta, 30903. Lee urged new members to enclose name, address and telephone number in order to be notified of future meetings. The Augusta Taxpayers Association was formed recently to promote equalization of taxes, assuring payment of taxes for only those services rendered by local governments.
