Walker Elementary School was entertained on Friday with a program in song Head Start King & Queen The Head Start King & Queen Contest that was sponsored by the Head Start Parents culminated on Sunday, December 2, at the Belle Terrace Center with Cynthia Collins as Queen and Fredrick Harrison as King. Runners-up were Felecia Majors and George Davis. Benefits will go toward purchasing Christmas gifts for the Head Start children. The students at the Center had prepared a portion of the program to welcome those from Sand Bar Ferry. Mike Halas welcomed everyone and led in the devotion. Then an ensemble of six boys-Donald Woods, Danny Martin, John Battle, Kenneth Sweatmon, Billy Crumbley, and Anthony Kelley-sang an original song to welcome everyone. VT w I . “ ~ i\w Tech faculty joins students in holiday feast the Week before Christmas” - also in welcome for the Sand Bar Ferry Students. The remainder of the program was presented by Sand Bar Ferry. The Drama Club presented a one-act play, “No Room In the Inn”, under the direction of Miss Sudderth. The play depicts the innkeeper in Bethlehem and how his attitude toward people changed after the birth of Jesus. The main characters in the play were Danny O’Bryant as the Innkeeper, Marvin Wilson as his servant; Antoine Cochran played the part of Joseph, and Wanda Roberson was Mary. UNDERTAKING ESTABLISHMEN 930 D’ANTIGNAC PHONE 722-4809 - - 722-4800 Miss Prather, presented several Christmas selections, including “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen”, “The Drummer Boy”, and a new arrangement of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The Bank, under the direction of Mr. Charles Burton, played several favorite Christmas songs, as well as a popular song, “111 Be There.” The audience then joined in singing several Christmas carols with the band and chorus. The entire program was enjoyed by the more than 300 boys at the Youth Development Center, and the program will be presented Tuesday morning. December 18, at Sand Bar Ferry Junior High during then Christmas assembly. The Business Education Dept, of the Augusta Area Technical Trade School held its annual Christmas Luncheon at the Ramada Inn Monday. Observed in yule tide tradition with feasting and carols, the festivities were highlighted by guest speaker Curtis E. Cisrow, who spoke on “the Changing Image of A Changing People”. BABCOCK & WILCOX The Augusta News-Review • December 20, 1973 - B \ * 1 MILLER SISTERS IN THE NUTCRACKER Sharis (R) and Virlyn Miller danced in the Nutcracker presented by the Augusta Civic Ballet Company. Sharis has been dancing for four years; she made her second appearance this year in this performance as the “Bunny”. Virlyn has been dancing three years and this was her first year in the Nutcracker as a Tin Soldier. They are the daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Augustus Miller. annually by the Business Education Dept., according to Moses McCauley, class president. Those in attendance were class officers; Moses McCauley, president; Levi Turner, vice president; Virginia Simpson, secretary; Patricia Harper, treasurer and Ronnie Jones, parlimentarian. Executive Committee members, Gloria Frazier, Grace Carter, Jammie Washington, John Harris, Linda Jones, Victoria Johnson, Bernice Gibbons, Charles Williams, Tom Holmes and Ronald Lampkin. Faculty members present were Mrs. Janie M. Millsaps, chairman; Marion D. Griffin, Mrs. Betty Vance, Mrs. Kay 0. ( NEEDED EXECUTIVE SECRETARY MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
