Dents celebrate
50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Dent,
Sr., were honored on their
50th wedding anniversary with
a double ring ceremony given
to them by their children. The
event took place Sunday,
January 27, 1974, at 4 p.m. at
the Garden Center with
Reverend Wright performing
the ceremonies.
Mrs. Rubena Williams did a
reading, “The Golden
Anniversary.” A song “We’ve
Only Just Begun” was sung by
Mrs. Wilhelmenia Sanders.
Mrs. Dent was given in
marriage by her oldest son,
Henry Dent, of Hunnington
Station, New York. Best man
was Tommie Dent, Jr. of
Evans, Ga. Mrs. Clarissa
Bennett of Augusta, served as
matron-of-honor. The same as
50 years before.
Other attendants were Mrs.
Mary L. Bussey, the oldest
daughter, of Augusta, Ga. and
Mrs. Ella Frank, the youngest
daughter, of Lynwocd,
California.
Ushers were Richard Dent,
NACW Honors Mrs. Jackson, Miss Mack

off white brought about ,
special feeling of happiness
within those attending the
ceremonies.
Special appreciation goes to
Jerry Harris for rendering the
music, and Mrs. Mary Gilbert,
the bride’s sister, for catering
the occasion. Also, Miss Eulala
Dent, a daughter of the couple,
was commended for planning
the affair.
Following the ceremonies a
reception attended by
approximately 350 friends and
relatives was held in the Ball
Room of the Garden Center. It
was an occasion to be
remembered always.

known for her service to

Miss Brenda Louis, Sgt. Charles Williams take vows
Miss Brenda Yvonne Louis
and Charles Leroy Williams,
Staff Sgt., U.S. Air Force, were
united in marriage Saturday,
January 12, at Ross Grove
Baptist Church. The Reverend
William G. Anderson
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Tomie Louis, Sr.
She is the Granddaughter of
Mrs. Ellen Lewis and the late
Mr. Henry Lewis, Sr. and Mrs.
Sarah Turner and the late Mr.
Alexander Turner.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Mattie M. Williams and the late
Mr. Leroy William
Mr. Franklin D.R. Williams,
Sr.,the groom’s uncle, served as
best man and ushers were Mr.
John D. Abreau, Mr. Jackie
Williams, Mr. Gerald Yerby,
Mr. Roman Hudson, Jr., and
Mr. Tomie Louis, Jr., the
bride’s brother.
Miss Robbiesteene Britt
attended the bride as maid of
honor and Mrs. Jerrea Young
was matron oi honor. Mrs.
Linda M. Kirkland, Miss Denise
Ingram, Miss Celestine Williams
and Miss Vevelyn Stephens
were bridesmaids.
Master Maurice G. Lewis was
ringbearer and Little Miss
Kenya Lewis was flower girl.
The bride was escorted by
her father and given in
marriage by her parents.
Following the ceremony a
reception was held in the Civic
Room of the Pilgrim Health &
Life Insurance Company. The
couple will live in London,
England.

The Paine College Lyceum
Committee will present Elwyn
Adams in Gilbert-Lambuth
Chapel February 15, 1974 at
8:00 p.m.
Mr. Adams, a native of
Cleveland, Ohio, received his
bachelor of Music degree with
honors from the New England
Conservatory of Music.
He has won many prizes and
awards in the field of Music.
His traveling includes such
places as Russia, Germany,
Belguim, France, Romania,
Poland, Canada, and numerous
places in the United States.
Mr. Adams has served as
concertmaster with the
Symphont Orchestra of
Quebec, and has given concerts
at Jordan Hall in Boston,
Severance Hall in Cleveland;
and Carnegie Hall in New
York.
