Adoption
Project Holds
Awareness
Program
The NAACP Adoptive
Parent Recruitment and
Education Project (NAPREP)
recently held a Mass Meeting at
the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
An awareness program, this
was one in a series of events
the Adoption Project held to
involve the public in the
purpose of the project. This
program culminated the events
for Adopt -A- Child Month.
Mrs. Ruby Hurley,
Southeastern Regional Director
for the NAACP and the Project
Administrator delivered the
address. Others appearing on
the program were: Dr. L.H.
Pitts, Mr. Solomon Walker,
Paine College Gospel Choir,
State Representative R.A.
Dent, Rev. Rosa Williams, Rev.
J.S. Wright, the Fryer Sisters,
Mr. Preston Tutt, and Mr.
George Tutt.
A special presentation was
presented to Mr. Charles W.
Walker, advisory board
chairman by Miss Joyce Tutt.
The theme for the program was
“With a Child’s Heart’.

just congratulated three
AFJROTC cadets of his school
for having earned the
distinction of being selected as
cadets of the semester. Cadet
Captain H. Harris (left), has
been selected as the Third Year
Cadet of the semester. Cadet
Sergeant W. Fields (center) is
the Second Year Cadet of the
first semester. Cadet Airman P.
Boyd was selected as the First
Year Cadet of the semester.
Each cadet demonstrated
high achievement in the areas
of academics, leadership
appearance, and cocurricular

Women’s Health Center Gets 'Permanent’ Office
After one year's operation
from a mobile unit, the
Women’s Health Center, 1862
Central Avenue, has moved into
two newly renovated examing
rooms on the second floor of
the Planned Parenthood
building.
Formerly the clinic was held
